Guest guest
, If you're right after surgery, please keep in mind that things are quite swollen at this point. Follow your doctor's instructions for care and the swelling should subside. I think others that have had their canal wall taken down or the canal widened will let you know that after the swelling goes down it is not very noticeable. Give it some time. Guest guest
Did you have a Canal Wall Down? My now 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with dual Cholesteatomas when she was 5. She has had them both removed seperately, then more surgeries to graft in ear drums a couple of times & then titanium grafts which have fallen out. Then cholesteatomas grew back in both ears so this time CWD & I was STUNNED when the packing was removed. The ear canal looked HUGE & SCAREY! That was perhaps 6 months ago. The canal is now getting smaller & not so scarey looking. So time DOES close things up some. In fact right now I'm concerned that one ear canal seems to be collapsing. We live in Alaska & had appointments scheduled in Seattle today but due to severe winds, we can't get out of town so have to reschedule everything. I think we had about 10 appointments. My daughter also has a cleft palate. I can't wait to see the ENT to have the dried blood cleaned out again & for him to tell me the latest on JinMei's progress or lack thereof. Believe me, I feel your fear. Guest guest
It is natural process of healing for the cavity to get smaller with time due to fibrosis. Smaller the after surgery, beyter it is , as it may be seff cleaning. There should be no dependant parts in mastoid left,as these prevent free drainage. The canal left should be big enough to provide unhindered view of the ear. IN cleft palate , the muscles which controls the opening closing of the inner end ot E.Tube, malfunctions and such kids are always predisposed to ear infections. PLease feel free to ask for any thing Good luck Dr. Arun Gupta,India On Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 8:56 AM, Donna <Donna_is@...> wrote: Did you have a Canal Wall Down?
