Hi ,

During my first surgery my dr. made sure he widen the ear canel so I wouldn't

have to have my ear half cut off again. It took about 3 weeks for me to get back

to normal. Then a few weeks later I was back in hospital with yet another Ctoma

- he went through the ear canel and it was a piece of cake, I didn't have no

problems what so ever, no ear packing, do dizziness, pain, nothing. Not to worry

your going to be fine :)

Hi Kazzy,

I had a CWD in September 2010 just in case I needed more surgeries in the

future. I just honestly wasn't prepared to have another one this quickly. In

August 2010 I had emergency surgery for an abscess caused by the infection in my

right ear. They weren't able to remove all the ctoma at that time due to how

infected it was. I also had a mastoidectomy but they weren't able to reconstruct

any bones since the damage was to extent. But I was and still am ok with that. I

didn't have the best hearing in that ear anyway...I just wanted a safe ear. Like

your ear mine has a larger opening which now that some months have passed it

isn't that bad to look at or even notice. I had a slow recovery last year after

that 2nd surgery (maybe because they were 3 wks apart) but it took me til I want

to say right before Thanksgiving to get my energy back and all that. I had just

never heard of surgery happening through the ear rather than behind the ear and

wanted to be sure I wasn't a first case for this. I love my surgeon here in

Oregon and know he will do a good job but I haven't had a chance to talk to him

about this only his surgery scheduler and that is why I have so many concerns. I

guess when I have my pre-op I can ask him everything but 3 prior surgeries and

they were all behind the ear so this puzzled me when she mentioned he was going

through the ear...Thanks for sharing appreciate it so much.
