hi all,

I am having surgery march 25, and am starting to get concerned that my ENT

specialist/surgeon is NOT additionally a neurotologist. He said that the c-toma

didn't look too bad on CT but also admitted he's had CTs that looked awful and

really weren't too bad when he got in there, and other CTs that didn't looked

bad at all and ended up being a nightmare. His scheduler said he does these

surgeries " all the time " and is currently the only specialist at the practice

who does them. when would you need a neurotologist? how important is it?

thanks in advance!

The only thing I can say from my experience is that my Surgeon, who was fantastic, explained to me that until they operated they would not know what they were dealing with. He explained like your surgeon that something that initially appears very stright forward can actually be far more complex and complicated and vice versa. In my experience they initally thought I would be in surgery for a couple of hours, however when they performed the operation it took them 5 hours due to some very difficult parts to access which required them to spend more like to ensure it was all removed. As much as I would love to have a definitive answer before I went into my operation I had to trust he knew what he was doing and I did, that is very important. I am sorry if this hasnt helped at all.
