Guest guest
Hi , I'm penciled in to be banded on Dec 9th. We will be flying out 12/8 from Dallas, Texas. It doesn't seem real yet. Went out on my lunch hour and bought a bunch of broths, liquid Tylenol and protein mix today. Trying to stock up on all the suggestions I've read so far. See you there! Guest guest
Hi . My name is . I also live in Phoenix. I was banded on 9/25 and just went for my first fill. The whole experience was positive. The entire staff, the hospital and the process are top notch. I have nothing bad to say. The staff are a friendly group that you make a life long bond with. They love each one of us and take great care of us through thick and then finally thin! This group is an excellent source of information and support. Don't be nervous about what you're doing. Just educate youself on the process and the nutritional needs and you'll be fine. Congratulations on making this decision for yourself. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Hi . Protein comes in the form of meat. Eat lots of meat and vegies. No pasta, no rice, no bread, no dessert. High protein means low carbs. If you get on line and google either high protein or low carbs you will get an idea of what you need. I follow the Atkins rule. Meat, vegies, and dairy. Just watch your carbs, no more that 30 per day and you'll do fine. Good luck. We'll be here if you need us. DOB 9/25/06 241/227/145 > > I'm going to be banded on November 23rd. Guest guest
, of course you're going to be nervous. We all were. It's only natural. But I tell you, these guys have it down pat. They do up to 5 surgeries a day, mon-fri. My surgery took 30 minutes, some take a bit longer. They are loving and careful and very very good at what they do. We are all cut from the same cloth and we all have the same worries. We've all had the same diet mishaps and failures. You are having surgery , so there is always the risk that goes along with that. check with Nina and she will tell you their record. I don't want to quote it becuase I don't recall what the numbers where. I do know they've never had a death and I don't believe they've ever had any major complications. You're gonna do just fine . It's a new lease on life, I can tell you that for sure. . > > > > > > > > I'm going to be banded on November 23rd. Guest guest
Thanks . I had did some searchs about high protein and low carb. I know meats dont have carbs. But when i take a close look at a lot of dairy products and veggies, they still do have pretty many carbs in them. I think i found enough things to go through my 7 days of the LSD diet. Now i'm just getting really nervous about the surgery as i read more and more! Is it unrealistic to think i can resume my normal routine 4 days after surgery? > > > > I'm going to be banded on November 23rd. Guest guest
Hey . The carbs in vegies are the good carbs. Go to town on those. Pre op for me was eggs and sausage with cheese or an omolet for breakast. A salad with meat on it for lunch or just the meat and cheese. No crackers or bread. And dinner was usually meat and vegies. I followed the Atkins method. I had my surgery on Monday, home by Wednesday. I was a little sore and a little uncomfortable for the next week or two. I found it difficult to sleep because you can't lay on your side. I must tell you though, this was my first surgery ever and I'm a big lazy baby. My belly was sore. I could have returned to work if I had to. I took the whole week off and went back on Monday. I stayed till 2 on monday and left because I was tired. Went back Tuesday and left at 12 mostly cuz I was tired and just becuase I wanted to and was being lazy. I was back up and running by Wednesday. But like I said, I was just being lazy and I like to sit on my ass at my house. It depends on what type of work you do. I work at a desk all day. Your normal routine as you know it will be different for the first two weeks. It's all about healing and making sure you have a thermos full of chicken broth. Don't leave home with out it. The first two weeks are just a little different than life before, but then you move on and it all goes back to a new normal. I'm at week 8 and the only difference in my life, is that for the first time, I pay attention to what I'm putting in my mouth. You're gonna be just fine. It's gonna go just fine. You will come back a new person with high hopes for a new future. If I didn't know better, I would think the whole thing is just pure magic. Talk to you soon. . > > > > > > I'm going to be banded on November 23rd. Guest guest
Hi Hey, whenever you start feeling nervous and worried about the negatives go to the photos pages and take a look at all of us!! Dr. A has done a bunch of lapbands even since I got mine 1 year and about 2 months ago. And some of the people that had the band put in months after me are looking great! Not that I am complaining. I have lost 73 lbs. and many many inches and am much much healthier than I was a year ago in late September! I guess it's time for me to post another picture too. Also you need to go back into the archives and read some of the great NSVs that people have posted-- They are non scale victories and are more important than the weight on the scale for sure! Just keep thinking positive thoughts and reading positive messages and you will get really psyched up and ready to face your surgery with great excitement. Best wishes to you on this life changing journey! Penny in Colorado DOB 9/26/05 230/157/135 4 fills for 1.9 cc 1 slight unfill I think my latest fill has finally loosened up a little so maybe no more unfills! > > > > > > > > I'm going to be banded on November 23rd.
