Well 15, Mom is likely right about this one. Even if you have had

hearing bone reconstruction, flying restrictions are usually lifted

after about six weeks. Your doctor can give you instructions on staying

comfortable while flying and ... although some of us were concerned

about how we'd feel at first ... all was fine. If the doctor tells you

to take a decongestant an hour before landing, just do it. Sometimes

they'll suggest a nasal spray as well. I forgot once and it was rather

uncomfortable. I was fine. I haven't forgotten since though!

Hi,I am scheduled for a mastoidectomy on the 25th. I specifically asked about flying because I have a flight scheduled at the end of June and wanted to know if I needed to cancel. I've read several posts that said you needed to wait 3 - 6 months!! My Dr. said I can fly a week following my surgery. This does assume there are no big surprises when they go in and of course they can't see everything from the CT, but I got a booklet with information about this surgery and the little booklet actually said flying can be done 48 hours following surgery! So, I am keeping my trip and hoping for the best. I will, however, make sure I am armed with lost of flight information prior to take off.Best of luck! From: cp123anton <cp123anton@...>cholesteatoma Sent: Tue, April 12, 2011 2:06:07 PMSubject: Important: Flying Question.

Hey- I had surgery December 20th and have since flown 4 times. Twice at the beginning of February and twice last week. No problems at all in my case. Doc told me to wait 6 weeks and I think that was about how long I waited. He also told me not to blow my nose for 6 weeks.

My surgeon told me to wait 3 weeks I just had a tympanomastoidectomy yesterday

and no nose blowing. I came down with a cold this morning :-( so not sure what I

am going to do here. I believe depending on the procedure time frames might be

different for everyone depending on individual cases.
