Accessibility at my new job

Hi Everyone,

On December 5th I started a new job working for one of TMobile's

head call centers in Springfield, Missouri. I doubled my pay from my

previous job and the benefits are amazing.

What blew me away was their accessibility. For those of you who

don't know me I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which is a brittle

bones disease as well as a type of dwarfism. I am 27 and 3'11, I also

use a walker to get around. When I first went in for my interviews I

noticed that the outside doors all had handicapp push buttons to open

the doors. Upon getting hired I came to find that the inside doors to

the huge building have push buttons as well. So I dont have to battle

with trying to pull the doors open. Another thing that blew me away

was the bathrooms. In every bathroom and on the outside of the doors

are sensors that you just wave your hand in front of and the bathroom

doors open. All the sinks and soap dispensers are automatic as well

as the paper towel dispensers, just a wave of my hand and thats all

it takes.

The company is also big on ergonomics. They have people who

specialize in this at the company. I got my work area tailored to me

to where I am not straining my arms nor my back. They have chairs

that recline, the armrests are adjustible as well as several other

functions of the chairs. The also brought down the keyboard so I dont

strain my wrists and gave me a stool for my feet so my legs dont

dangle.

They also came to me, without me having to go to them, to make

sure that there was nothing else they could do for me to make me more

comfortable or if there was something that I found I couldnt reach.

If ADA ever came in there they would give this place an A+.

I just wanted to share that with everyone! I have had jobs

before where they werent as on top of things like this place so I had

to brag. Well gotta go to work!!!

, thanks for sharing this! It's encouraging to read about a company

which embraces the spirit along with the letter of the ADA. I'm very happy for

you finding a great place to work. I hope it continues to surprise you!
