Guest guest
Hi Regina I am so sorry to hear about you having to lose your band! I know of no one on this message board who has had that experience since Dr. Aceves has been able to save all the slipped bands I have heard of here. I know my fill doc warned me to be careful because many places in the US will NOT mess with a slipped band if they didn't put it in and will just take it out. I hope you can resolve your problem and maybe Dr. A can put in another band. I just feel it is so much less invasive AND so much less dagerous. This summer two very close friends have had excessive bleeding as a side effect of RNY (after about 5 years!)and both nearly died in the emergency room. It just scares me. I know how you feel about needing the tool to help you, but I hope you can discuss this with Dr. Aceves and Nina and get something worked out. I also wanted to know a little more about your experience with the band. Did you lose your weight quickly or did it take several years? How did the band happen to slip? was it a gradual thing or did it happen all of a sudden? Were the adhesions from the slippage or surgery or what? Did you reach your goal weight and then have an unfill or were you still pretty resricted after 4 years? Sorry for so many questions but I am wondering how it will be down the road. I have had my band for 10 months and am hoping I am at my sweet spot but as you probably know, the band is fickle!! Thanks for hearing me out and my best wishes and prayers are with you!
