Guest guest
I was listening to our local radio station this morning and a comedian, named Brad , was on the show. He will be doing shows at the Funny Bone Comedy Club this week. They had a " Ask the midget " session, where people could call in and ask him questions. Of course, most of the callers asked stupid questions. Mr. played up the midget bit and it was so degrading. I'm just glad my daughter didn't hear him. I'm not sure what his show is like, but the bit on the radio station was awful. Anyway, here is a link to his site: http://bradwilliamscomedy.com/ I would not go see him if the word " midget " is offensive to you. Guest guest
Brad is a Little Person himself with Achondroplasia. I have seen him on Mind of Mencia episodes and some of his comedy online. Many comedians do use themselves as their joke base. Josh Blue with his cerebral palsy and many like Ralphie May, Iglesias and Pinette use their weight. They joke about it yes, with most crowds that are not similar to them. Black comedians, Latino/a comedians, Jewish comedians, all make jokes about themselves. Does it perpetuate stereotypes? Maybe. Does it make people more at ease with differences? I believe so... From his site, it states, " Brad's ability to make humorous observations that make everyone comfortable with difference is winning over audiences and proving that anyone can overcome their shortcomings. " It looks like there is a contact Brad link on the main page... so you may send him a note if you feel his radio appearance was inappropriate. Here is a link with his comedy where people here can get an idea if they have ever heard of or seen him... which I am guessing many may have. Guest guest
Brad is a good comedian, albeit a bit racey at times. He's one of my favorites, but I wouldn't recommend his humor for someone under 18. Never heard his radio appearances, but have seen his standup routines on tv and online. Guest guest
Don't tell my husband, but I've got a crush on Brad. :-) I just watched his " Live at Gotham " video via a link on his website and LOVED it!!! :-) http://www.myspace.com/video/vid/45492694 My favorite part was his " big woman " routine, as my husband is 6' tall and 350 pounds. :-) He does mention that the word midget is not cool. He uses it in his routine once more (unless my ears deceive me) as a brief reference to a generic audience member. I can forgive him for this. If he starts using it more frequently, I'm going to have to break up with him. <g> I agree, his material is for adults only. If he comes to a venue within 100 miles of me, I'm going to see him live. DH has agreed to buy the tickets and drive. :-) (((Huggles))), Denyse Wiping tears of laughter from my eyes. :-) On 1/13/11 5:44 PM, Nan Rodgers wrote: > Brad is a good comedian, albeit a bit racey at times. Guest guest
If I were to ask hubby to take me to see Brad he'd literally freak! He seems to think I'm shopping for another little guy to replace him as it is! I do find little guys extremely attractive, but I'd never leave my sweet husband for another...it's been hard enough training him over the past 2 1/2 years to try to break another in!! LOL (((hugs))) ~Nan~ ________________________________ From: ZenCatShadow <zencatshadow@...> dwarfism Sent: Fri, January 14, 2011 9:10:57 AM Subject: Re: Brad - Comedian  Don't tell my husband, but I've got a crush on Brad.
