Guest guest
Hello all, Peel here in Montreal, Canada. My wife Jocelyne just returned home after a laminectomy ( spinal decompression L3-T12). She is 4ft 3ins tall and has been told that she needs to sit for short periods in a straightback chair. Chairs have always been a problem to begin with and we have solved the problem in the past by purchasing small chairs made by artisans when we were in Spain. We shipped a few home but these are not really suitable. We need something with arm rests. I have checked with all the mobility stores and rental places and nobody can help me with a chair so can anyone offer any suggestions as to where to get something. Secondly some of you who have had similar operations have written about going into rehab and undergoing physical therapy but can you tell me what kind of rehab and what kind of physical therapy exactly? My wife has been told she should walk around for about 10minutes if she can, sit for no longer than 30mins and then spend time laying on her side. She is still in lots of pain and taking Dilaudid which is a derivative of Morphine. We would be pleased to receive any recommendations especially from others with Achondroplasia that have undergone spinal decompression. Thanks
