Do you take any supplements? It is amazing how much better I feel just when I take a good multivitamin. A raw diet or just eating more high fiber natural foods could possibly help both with the weight and your bowel problem. Good old fashioned portion control and exercise is a great way to control your weight (I probably shouldn't talk as I need to lose about 40 lbs. myself). The infections in your gums could be a vitamin deficiency. Energy and headaches can also be diet related. Eating too much junk foods, sugar, etc. can contribute to that. Weight bearing exercises and high calcium foods (not necessarily dairy because the protein in it could cause a leaching of the calcium plus vegetarian calcium -- dark green veggies -- are absorbed better than dairy calcium) is good for osteoporosis and arthritis. Guest guest
Hi all, Well, this is long, so hit the delete key now if you don't want to bother. But anyway, I guess I'll take the big plunge and see what suggestions/helps you all have for me. I have, over a number of years, gotten into pretty bad physical condition and have, along the way, picked up a couple of worrisome health problems. Let me enumerate the health problems so that you might know what to suggest and where to start. What should come first. And, I feel so crumby, what can I do at first that is within my energy level? 1. I weigh about a hundred pounds more than I should. I have lost 20 to 30 pounds a couple of times, but have, in general, resisted diets because I don't want to become a yoyo. And, I have to admit, my eating habits have been, over the years, horrendous! 2. My bowels aren't happy. I am lucky if they work once a day, (and I am sure that I don't pass anything like the amount that I eat). I think that this may be, partially, hereditary. I had terrible bowel cramps, particularly when I was pregnant in the seventies. This was not weight-related because I was nice and slim and I had outstanding physical fitness. (However, I still didn't eat a good diet.) 3. In 1994, I started getting terrible infections in my gums. Over the years, I have had many root canals, and even several tooth extractions. Well, they eventually appeared to clear up, but unfortunately, over the last two months, they have come back. Right now I have an infection which is kind of right behind the top of my upper lip and runs up almost to just below my eye socket. It has swollen up enough that the right side of my nose runs in a long smooth slantdown to my cheek for maybe 2 to 3 inches. 4. I have had headaches since late high school. I think that they are probably related to muscle tension. My mom used to live on muscle relaxants. I haven't done that, but for years I lived on excedrin. Then I found out that the ingredient of caffeine was actually perpetuating the headaches. I stopped using Excedrin, but now I find that I rely heavily on ibuprofin. 5. My body leans heavily toward osteoperosis and toward arthritis. My grandmother was killed by her osteoperosis when a bone in her thigh broke as she was walking through the house, releasing some marrow into the bloodstream that went to her brain and killed her. My mom was basically killed by the way her doctors treated her arthritis with steroids, and so I don't really seek any medical assistance for the beginnings of arthritis, but I have constant joint pain and I am losing my body's flexibility. This is another reason that I take the ibuprofin. 6. I have no energy. I just don't have any. This is a problem that I have had since my late teens, but over the years, it has just slowly gotten worse. I purchased a dehydrator, a Champion juicer, and a Cuisinart food processor so that I could begin a raw diet, and I felt pretty enthusiastic about it, but I'm not quite sure where to begin. A lot of the stuff is just time consuming enough that I look at it, I may even buy the food to prepare it, but then I eat something else that is quicker and easier. I am sure that this is at least partly bad habit, but I also feel overwhelmed, and just not sure where to begin. What I need is ideas, and then ongoing support. I have looked at a couple of the teas that several of you are or will begin doing together, but I wasn't sure if either one of them would be helpful to me at this time. I look forward to any ideas you have for me, and hope you won't mind my sifting through the whys and wherefores with you. We are our own worst enemies so to speak. Now that you have all the goodies (kitchen utensils) you are on your way. What you need is some direction. First you need to realize that your diet is killing you. You are probably eating a lot of mucus forming foods. So you need to begin looking at what you eat on a daily basis and begin to make changes to better choices. Doing the 3 day juice cleanse is a very good place to start for detoxifying and getting in the habit of doing a lot, and I do mean a lot of juicing. The more you juice those fresh organic vegetables. the more of it you drink and the less mucus forming foods you eat the more you will detoxify and lose weight. I would also suggest strongly that you do some sort of thorough bowel cleanse followed by a liver cleanse. These should be done as soon as you can as this will facilitate the removal of toxins from your body that is going to occur as you juice and cleanse. Start using the Organic Egg found in the files along with the Organic Iron, also the Super Tonic. I would also suggest that at least 3 times a week you take a nice hot epsom salt bath and just let your self relax and soak. This will remove a lot of toxins as well. Two ounces of Wheat Grass juice per day will get you detoxing too. Get some exercies. Rebounding is probably the best but walking is great too. So is swimming. Just get yourself some serious exercise. Also get plenty of sun and fresh air. I believe we have a formula in the files for respiratory problems that will help you a lot along with juicing. Start growing spouts and eating them at every chance. Eat lots of green sour apples, fresh pineapple and papayas. Eat lots of fresh organic fruits. Soak all your grains, seeds and nuts for a minimum of 8 hours before eating them. Try to eat as much of your food raw as possible. Allow all your seeds and grains to sprout for at least 24 hours after soaking them. Cut out all fast foods, processed foods, dairy and snack foods. They are only making your condition worse. Stop drinking any coffee, caffeinated beverages and sodas. Drink only fresh squeezed fruit juices or fresh juiced vegetable juices along with distilled or highly filtered water. For your infection I would highly suggest that you do some hot/cold on it. A chickweed poultice would be great. Make an epsom salt paste poultice and apply quite warm to the area or a warm castor oil pack. Also start using the Herbal Tooth powder in the files and you might even consider using the Infection Formula that you will find in there too. Make yourself a tea of ginger, parsley, ginseng and maybe a little licorice and start drinking several cups per day. This will help to strengthen and rebuild your adrenals. All of your problems will begin to get handles as soon as you begin to do cleanses. The more you cleanse and the deeper you cleanse the more your problems will lessen. Eating raw and juicing is not the easiest thing in the world to do but the alternative is sure disaster. It does take time to get into the rhythm of all of this. There are some great raw food sites with recipes and such that are excellent. I know it is hard but it actually gets much easier as you go along. It will take time for your body to rebuild and heal itself. There will be no miracles overnight. Dedicate yourself to getting better and you will. If there are no raw sites in the links pages just let me know and I will point you in the right direction, as well as add the links to the links pages. Peace be with you Terri Lynne and we are all here to help and support you. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
Hi Terri Ok... I'll add to Don. If you don't have a juicer.... you can use a blender... if you have neither... start eating fruits and veggies raw or LIGHTLY steamed. If you can't juice, drink as organic or pure juices as you can find...(not frozen).. Start taking super tonic daily (recipe in the files - easy to make)... also calcium... plus get yourself some MSM (the best you can find or order it in bulk at herbalcom.com..) This along with the organic iron will do wonders for osteo and arthritis. I take mine in powder form in my morning drink. I was doing it 2-3 times a day when I had the arthritis in the knee cap problem.. Drink plenty of lemon water. This is a good place to start. It won't be easy changing...but you will see the results... Get yourself some pumpkin/sunflower seeds.. you can soak them overnite... to snack on... wheatberries are another good one to sprout and nibble... You can even mix them after they dry out... Check the recipe files in the archives... also go to www.living-foods.com/recipes www.sunfood.net/recipes.html http://www.livingnutrition.com/recipes/ www.vegweb.com/food/raw www.rawtimes.com http://www.rawfoodlife.com/raw_food_recipes.html http://www.nextag.com/buyer/outpdir.jsp?nxtg=39677c_5471340F99D3A72C & node=2700000 & search=raw+food+recipe Also your epsom salt baths... have a cup of ginger tea while doing this... also ginger salts are good in the hot bath..
