Guest guest
Hello :First of all welcome to our family. I am sorry I did not respond earlier but I have been very busy lately. My ep specialist told me if i get shocked once no problem , I don't have to go to the hospital but to call him in the morning and get the ICD read asap. If I get shocked 2 times to call the medics. That's the way it has been for the past five years that I had my machine. By the way when i got shoked it felt like i got electrocuted all over my body but since it is a split second thing it doesn't last a long time, but I got the shakes afterwards. Thank god after the first three months of constantly getting shocked my docs changed my meds and I have not been shocked for the past 4 years (knock on wood). Guest guest
Still got one more test to go on friday to see if they find out what is making me pass out.The tilt table. They strap me in,shoot something into my veins and see if I pass out/and or through up and when that is finished I go to work for the weekend.Fun.I imagine I will have to wait for the results on that test I am not sure then I will go in and get the results on the last test they did.Hoping one of the tests is telling a story so I know what is going on.My husband broke his second last toe on Saturday so he isn't a happy camper.Had to take his truck in today to get the transmission rebuilt and we dropped the truck off and I followed with the car cause the cat had to get its shots today and my back shock fell off and we had to take it off until I could get back from the vet.I picked up a new bolt for the shock while I was in and the old one broke so it had to be drilled out and the new one put in.Always having to spend money. Now it will take me two wks to pay for the labor for the truck.Thank god it is a friend and we can pay in payments for labor.Other then that everything is great. How about your girl. Guest guest
Not a good idea. Try again next year. Ahmed Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device Re: Hey guys Hey thanks for your reply, but gettinga place in UK schools is very very competitivite and its just not about getting the right grades anymore. There is no garuntee I will get in next year and then I would have wasted 1 year. In order to come bact to UK I will have to do the ORE exam to get registered. I know this is a very hard exam but I am waiting for responses of others on here to guide me about the exam and whether or not its a good idea to take the ORE exam. ------------------------------------
Guest guest
hi, i think it not a very good idea to do bds from india n then go back to uk and appear for ORE when ur already a UK national. well BDS in india is now 5 years without internship, basically the final year is now divided into 2 years and by the time u finish college, gain some work exp n apply for ORE and then clear the exam, u would end up dropping a year or two maybe! besides ORE, as you know it, is obviously not that easy to clear...so you might as well wait for a year n try and get admin in UK itself!! regards anahita > > Hello > > I am a UK national currently in college and I was thinking about going to India to study BDS and come back to the UK. Guest guest
Hi,I dont think that would be a very wise decision. Just tell me; is Dentistry a very lucrative profession there in U.K? Why am asking is, in India it is slowly loosing popularity with so many UG seats of various colleges remaining vacant. Actually its very much time taking to get settled and job prospects slowly decreasing. So since u r still in college I think it would be better to opt for other popular n quick settling profession in U.K. but it all depends on ur perspective and also how much u can get in return from dentistry after u go back. So u have to weigh out all the efforts u put n the amount u get in return. All the best.Bye,Indranil From: tj_2d <tj_2d@...>Subject: Hey guys Date: Saturday, April 17, 2010, 4:04 AM  Hello I am a UK national currently in college and I was thinking about going to India to study BDS and come back to the UK. Guest guest
Hey guys I appreciate all the comments and I am still thinking about it. However dentistry is a very lucrative profession in the UK and I am willing to spend another extra year taking the ORE after coming back from India. Coming back to the UK will be no problem for me as I have a british passport, but I am worried about the ORE but if so many dentists from India come and pass it then why wont I be able to as long as I study hard and prepare I should clear it hopefully. I am not to keen on going to european dental schools as I have heard a lot of negatives about going there from first hand expereiences, for example the fail rate there is very high etc for example out of 80 students only 35 actually pass and get the degree plus examination is very tough and differnt there, so there is no garuntee that ill even be a dentist if i go there, whereas in India there is and if that means another year taking the ORE so be it. Why do people think this is not a good idea?

Guest guest
There are several reasons for not going to India to get degree and coming back. First, it's typically easier to get licensed in the place you go to school. If you go abroad, there is not as much guarantee that you can go back. It's just so much more troublesome, which is why so many are discouraging it. Also, the reputation of UK and Western European dental schools are typically better and you might have more problems getting a job than a UK grad in the end. In the US, the same thing happens and I see a bunch of people who go abroad to do their dental or medical education, Mexico, China, India, etc. However, they have a very hard time coming back here and when they eventually do, it's harder to get hired into private practice. If you try to get into UK school for next year, you might save yourself a lot of trouble in the end. I know a guy who got rejected from US medical school 2 years in a row, thought about applying abroad. But he tried one more time and got in and is now a practicing doctor, no regrets about time lost. A couple of years may seem like a lot when you're young, but it's really no big deal, especially when you are finally practicing in the place you want to be.
