Hello,

I am currently in close touch with a family here in Arizona whose baby girl

with SED or SEMD is facing some difficult challenges. At higher altitudes,

where they currently live, she needs to be on oxygen all the time. Her

doctors here in Phoenix do not feel she will outgrow this condition and have

recommended a surgery called titanium rib expansion, which would provide

more room for her lungs. Is there anyone whose child has had this done who

would be willing to share their experiences? Thank you very much.

Christus Santa Children's Hospital in San , Texas are specialized in

the surgery. I worked there as a Child Life Specialist for a while and had many

successful cases with that surgery.
