Yes. Anything "sol" (Lysol, Pinesol) are extremely bad for us and our pets. Never use those with any animal, dogs, cats or caged pets. D

White vinegar and water. It'll clean just about anything.

I ran out of my natural floor cleaner that lasted me almost 2 years. It was ok, but not exceptional. Any ideas on a good floor (linoleum) cleaner that won't kill me or my pets? Thanks, Deborah

I would get Clean House, Clean Planet. She has recipes for everything and you can make them at home.

Plain vinegar works really well on windows, mirrors and stainless steel. I never buy window cleaner any more because I'm allergic to one brand and I cannot remember which one it is. A spray of vinegar, followed by a spray of peroxide will disinfect counter tops better than bleach! Since I prepare bulk food for my dogs in the kitchen, this is good to know.... I'm still looking for something good for floors. I found that even vinegar with dawn didn't work very well to clean up muddy paw prints, and it left streaks. I broke down and bought some Lysol and am annoyed that they changed the fragrance and you can only get lemon or pine. I would prefer to use something natural that works. and the K9's

HARDWOOD FLOOR WASH

Note: If you have loose boards or wood tiles, hand wipe these areas with the wash. Excess liquid from the mop can get in the cracks and cause futher buckling.

1 1/2 cups water

1 1/2 cups vinegar

20 drops peppermint essential oil

Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle. Use sparingly, working in small sections of the floor. Dry mop the floor after washing.

CITRUS FLOOR CLEANER

Nothing works like citrus in the kitchen!

1 gallon hot water

2 tablespoons liquid castile soap

15 drops sweet orange essential oil

8 drops lemon essential oil or 1/2 cup lemon juice

Combine ingredients in a large bucket. Dip mop into the bucket and squeeze out excess liquid. Clean floor by working in sections, using short strokes and dipping mop as needed. Rinsing is not necessary.

TOUGH DIRT & GREASE FORMULA

Put the grease-cutting power of vinegar to use with this excellent formula.

1 gallon hot water

2 tablespoons liquid castile soap

1/4 cup washing soda

1 cup vinegar

20 drops eucalyptus, peppermint, or tea tree essential oil

Combine ingredients in a large bucket. Dip mop intot he bucket and squeeze out excess liquid. Clean floor by working in sections, using short strokes and dipping mop as needed. Rinsing is not necessary.

You are right - Lysol is very toxic to dogs and should never be used.
