I can't eat or really drink anything but clear liquids then at 9 its nothing for

me!!!

wish me luck. If I'm up to it I'll post later on and let everyone know how it

What hospital is doing the study of c-tomas vs regular skin tissue? Sounds interesting.cholesteatoma From: jscanh@...Date: Thu, 16 Jun 2011 15:06:59 +0000Subject: Re: Surgery Day

I also had my surgery yesterday (June 15th). Took about 3 hours. I was glad I was 1st surgery of the day so I could get it over with! Was happy none of the ear canal bones were involved, but I had extra scar tissue on eardrum that had to be removed...my body was trying to fight off the c-toma so it produced extra scar tissue.

The hospital I was at is doing a study of c-tomas vs regular skin tissue so they may come up with a new way of treating c-tomas without doing surgery. They are trying to find a way to inject something in the ear that would dissolve the c-toma instead of cutting it out...wouldn't that be great! They were going to use some of my tissue for the study.

So when I got home from hospital I didn't feel too bad, but as day went on I had to take pain medication because it really hurt and so did my throat from breathing tube. I was not expecting all that pain. Was very difficult to sleep too...had to sleep in recliner. Feel much better today, thank goodness...but will still take it easy today!

How do you feel today sydwee915? Ready to workout yet?!!! Hope you're doing well! Same with anyone else out there who just had surgery!

Hi Theresa,

So still no change in my hearing...still worse than b4 surgery. It feels like I

have a big block of some sort clogging my ear. On top of that, I am hearing

things that aren't there! I was running on treadmill the other day and could

have sworn I heard muffled music playing. I got off and listened and of course I

was only one home and there was no music playing anywhere! Very weird and it has

happened a few times. Anything like that happen to you?

Not having much head pain anymore, but my ear is very sensitive to the

touch...must be nerves coming back. I didn't have my ear glued...I have

dissolvable stitches. I would have worried too if glue came off cuz would be

afraid ear may fall off!!! Glad yours didn't!!!

Wow, I can't believe Doc said no lifting for 2 more weeks! My Doc said no

lifting more than 10 lbs. for 1st 2 weeks. I have been doing a little bit of

weight training with upper body, but only using 5-lbs...have to do so many reps!

I really concentrate on my breathing and it any pressure on my ear...so far so

good. Just started doing a few ab exercises...ones where I can keep my head

up...that seemed kind of scary for my ear at first. Still not ready for

exercises where I am lying down. My Doc also said running is fine and would not

do anything to ear. I ran 7 miles last Sat. and it felt really good! By the

way, what is Kenpo...have never done. Do you go to a class to do? Is it a good

workout?

I enjoy keeping in touch too...my e-mail is jscanh@.... Is yours

? Take care!

-Janet

I would be very careful working out. Don't worry it is good to give your body a rest. You will not explode in terms of weight. I just think it's a bad idea to be doing the level of excersise you are doing. But I'm no doctor...so what do I know :-)

Good luck Janet S.
