Guest guest
Dh is doing great. He feels better now that he is off the medication than he has in a very long time. He goes for a sleep study in Sept, because they think the headaches may be related to sleep apnea. Carahlyne is doing great, but she still won't take any bottles, cups, straws, or spoons. I came close to a nervous breakdown trying to wean her, so I gave in temporarily. I am just taking the other medicine. It won't get rid of the infection, but it does keep it in check. Yesterday, however, my milk sort of disappeared for a few hours. My doc says that it is probably because of the infection. Anyway, it balanced out later that evening, but I know I need to do something soon. Thank you, for remembering us and thanks for all the prayers. That is what held my sanity together. I sat trying to feed a screaming baby with a bottle while I cried a long with her. Finally, I decided that I cannot have screwy hormones, be sick, and wean her all at the same time! Guest guest
One of my clients BF her son. Her ped. told her not to give the baby a bottle, but let her husband or someone else do it. One day when she got off work early, I was feeding the baby his bottle (she pumped and froze for me) she said she could not hold him. I do know what you are going through. Weaning is so hard, especially when they are stubborn. , my 10 yrold, was just like that. When she was five months old she caught whooping cough and had to be hospitalized for a week, I could not leave her side because she was still nursing every few hours and refused to take a bottle from my husband or the nurses. I really did want to take a shower that week, but had to take sponge baths in the bathroom of her hospital room instead. A few months after that I weaned her. It was so hard. So I totally understand. My first could careless whether she nursed or had a bottle or whatever...she was too busy looking around to eat. I am glad to hear that you all are hanging in there. Guest guest
Oh, Sue! You are such a good sport! That was priceless. The stir fry sounds yummy. Soy sauce or tamari and ginger for spice? I have been stir frying my lunch lately and I was bummed out to see my fridge had no soy sauce, no worchestershire. Really, I am inches from menu planning and trying recipes. I had a good week with no big screw ups. I rode my bike twice a day for 4 days. We were going to go to the waterpark today but Tropical Storm Grace is screwing up our plans. We plan to go to a laser tag place instead with some friends. We never do things with another family so this will be fun. I'm going to go throw beef burgundy in the crock pot for tonight. I'll have mine over whole wheat noodles and I'll make egg noodles for and the kids. Tues. I'm going out to Japanese lunch so I'll have processed carbs in the tempura batter and the rice in the maki rolls. I'll avoid the serving of rice that comes with it though. On Thurs. I'm going to Cafe Express and I'll have one of their yummy Greek salads. Last night we had " hot wings " where I cook chicken breast tenders in the skillet and poor over some Hooters wing sauce. Yummy and sugar free. The sauce seems high in fat though. I won't step foot in Hooters but I'll buy their wing sauce at the grocery store. Today we're going to Mcs for lunch before we go to the laser tag place. That's no problem though since I've been getting their caesar salad with grilled chicken. My low carb experiment is underway. This is where it gets tough because the fast weight loss starting off tapers off and the hard work begins. I hope everyone has a nice holiday. Guest guest
In reply to your comment about not being able to handle an all you can eat buffet, I would have a hard time too. I would need to bring my measuring cups/scale and that doesn't seem practical. Maybe eventually I could " eyeball " portions, but for now I have to weigh and measure everything. Good for you saying, " no " . I think we all know in ourselves what we can and can't handle. Guest guest
Congratulations on your loss! 4 days on and 3 days off still averages to eating on plan over 50% of the time. Ten bucks an hour to watch a 2 year old? If that is the price of child care..... I guess everything *is* bigger in Texas. Good luck at your doctor's appointments. I always find it stressful to be poked and prodded. I'll make myself go in Jan. which will be 13 months since my last pap and check up. Blech. I'll be 40 then so I'll get a baseline mammogram. I've had several in the past for various lumps and bumps and it's always unpleasant but nothing compared to a pelvic. Sheesh. I saw my doc for a hand follow up the day after I went to the ER but they didn't weigh me. My bp was great though. That was a surprise since I was resigned to finally going on meds for it. Hopefully it will be good in Jan. too. I had a pleasant surprise this morning. I lost a pound this week. I was relieved since I was on plan for 4 days and off plan for 3 days. We even went out for Tex Mex on Sat. If I hadn't gotten demoralized due to the scale not moving by Thurs. I would have done even better. Oh well. A gain might have kept me off plan but a loss is motivating. I know it would be better if it were the opposite but now I feel renewed motivation. I'm getting back on my bike today. I'll take Lynn to school by bike then Vonn and I will head to playgroup. It's at a woman's home with 6 acres and the house is modeled on Monticello. It's amazing. Some of my friends' homes make me embarrassed to have people over here. I love our house but the garage sale furniture has to go! We'll bring a 2.5 year old girl home with us for a few hours. I'll be making $10 per hour which will be some nice spending money if I can watch her a few more times. She plays very nicely with Vonn and is a mellow kid so I think it will work out nicely. I'll put both of them in the bike trailer when we go pick up Lynn this afternoon. We'll probably hit the park for a while after that. I'll be exhausted tonight. Gotta get Vonn up and do Lynn's hair. It's really hard to pull her hair back with a bandaged hand! We're growing out her bangs so it hangs in her face if we don't do something with it. When we get back from taking her I'll have to pack lunches for playgroup. I'll pack a sandwich if the lettuce is funky and I can't pack a salad. Tonight is meet the teacher night at Lynn's school. I'm so glad that she loves first grade. I've been avoiding my GYN/ONC for a while now I'm sure I was due to go in to see him in August sometime, but I'm not sure. I avoid him as much as possible. He wants to basically see me " for life " since the ovarian cancer I had can come back at any time. Unlike other ovarian cancers there is no magic number of years and then no concern. It sounds like yours was probablly a little worse then mine was since you are still having problems with it. I think mine was a little over a week and I could use it pretty normally. I know mine was second degree, but maybe mine wasn't as bad. Oh well... just keep it nice and clean and dry and you should heal up nicely. > > I had a pleasant surprise this morning. I lost a pound this week. I was > relieved since I was on plan for 4 days and off plan for 3 days. Congrats! I'm pretty much holding my own... no real loss or gain, but I guess that is pretty darn good since I'm not sticking completely to plan and not getting much exercise in. It's amazing. Some of my friends' > homes make me embarrassed to have people over here. I love our house but > the garage sale furniture has to go! OH I know how this is! Granted our house is big square footage wise, but it doesn't look it from the inside. The furniture is pretty mismatched, and the kids have more stains on the carpet then I dare to try and clean all at once. We'll bring a 2.5 year old girl home > with us for a few hours. I'll be making $10 per hour which will be some > nice spending money if I can watch her a few more times. WOW!!! $10 per HOUR? maybe I need to look into doing child care! LOL... it is actually something I had done before, but there are so many stay at home moms in this area that are doing it that there isn'ta lot of need. To top that off it would make it difficult to take the kids to afterschool programs, and for me to get to appointments when needed. I guess I will just have to go back to cleaning out the basement and selling it on ebay. > I'll put both of them in the bike trailer when we go pick up Lynn this > afternoon. Most of it is doing fine. The burned skin peeled off and left bright pink, sensitive but intact skin exposed. The back of my index finger is a totally different story though. Ugh. It's going to take a while longer to heal. > Congrats! I'm pretty much holding my own... no real loss or gain, > but I guess that is pretty darn good since I'm not sticking > completely to plan and not getting much exercise in. Just don't start back sliding. It's so easy to do and that weight hops back on before you know it. Let's try to get some more weight off before we hit Halloween. > OH I know how this is! The furniture is pretty > mismatched, and the kids have more stains on the carpet then I dare > to try and clean all at once. Yep. I'm trying to decide whether to get the carpet cleaned before Lynn's birthday party or after. I guess after is a better idea but it's embarassing. The kids won't notice but the moms will be in and out for drop off and pick up. I know. I shouldn't give a & **# what anyone thinks but that's hard in this neighborhood when we're the lower end economically. I'm definately a flybaby with CHAOS. We worked very hard yesterday to clean up so it's safe for the 2.5 year old and not embarassing when her mom comes to pick her up. > WOW!!! $10 per HOUR? maybe I need to look into doing child care! I don't know what the going rate is but that's what she said she would pay me and I'm not going to argue. I'm not going to give up my days off but I'll be happy to watch when Vonn and I are just hanging out. It will almost make my life easier since Vonn will have a little playmate around. My friend is looking for a nanny close to her house but hopefully she won't find one and I'll have some work on Mon. and Fri. I need to go pack lunches for playgroup. It got down to 69 last night and our bike ride this morning was wonderful. It'll be a little chilly for the pool though. We'll take our suits and maybe the kids can go swimming a little later. It will get up to 88 today. Heaven. Gotta scoot. I'm hungry this morning after eating off plan for 3 days. I guess I'd better have a snack before we head out so I'm not starving and tempted by cookies or whatever snacks she puts out. Ann
Guest guest
> I'll be 40 then so I'll get a baseline mammogram. *That's what I forgot to ask for. My last one was 4 years ago this decembr, and I figued I should get another when I hit 50. I can always phone and have him write out the script for it and walk over and pick it up. I've had several in the past for various lumps and > bumps and it's always unpleasant The last one I had done was amazing! I even told the tech I wouldn't mind getting one of these every year if they *all* did it the way she did. She said contrary to the jokes, a mammo is *not* supposed to hurt. I asked if she would come up to NJ and teach the techs here how to do it. >My bp was great though. That was a surprise since I was I would have though the pain would bring it up, so I guess the meds you were given were keeping the pain, and your BP, at a nice calm level. > I had a pleasant surprise this morning. I lost a pound this week. Congrats! > I'm getting back on my bike today. I'm glad your hand, and the weather, are both getting back to normal. Around here, we're making all the hurricane preparations and watching Isabelle. > I love our house but > the garage sale furniture has to go! LOL I just bought an old-fashioned wooden ironing board at one yesterday, and the lady selling it was amazed when I said I was going to use it. This was the second board she had for sale (cleaned out her m-i-l's apartment) and the lady who bought the other one said *she* ws going to use hers, too. The seller thought she would sell them as antiques, not as working items. I've been looking at garage sales for one of tehse for years now - I always bend the legs on aluminum ones and have already gone through 4 of them since we moved back here from FL. We'll bring a 2.5 year old girl home > with us for a few hours. I'll be making $10 per hour which will be some > nice spending money if I can watch her a few more times. Congrats, again. Around here, working moms want you to go to their house, and besides watch the kid they expect you to do housework, shopping, and start dinner, all for minimum wage or less. And they want to make it legit, too, so then you have to declare it on your income tax and pay taxes for it, because *they're* declaring it as an expense and want recipts for money paid. > I'll be > exhausted tonight. Nothing like a few hours with active 2 year olds to work up a sweat. Sue in NJ

How did you let *that* happen? Your medication should be one of your number 1 priorities! With all the other things that are already happening because of no meds you better watch your heart, too. No exercise until all that swelling is all down, unless this has happened before and the doctor said it was okay. Next time take those rings off *before* your hand swells that much - it could lead to loss of circulation and gangrene in your finger it it stays like this too long! >I am sure that after a few days on the medicine I will be back to where I was on the 24th. Guest guest
> My goodness, lady! How did you let *that* happen? Your medication > should be one of your number 1 priorities! Yeah, I know. However, not all of my number one priorities got met this month. The cut my dh's overtime all last year. we have struggled for the last year. They have recently given him back some of the money, but we are so behind that it is all going to catch up. I made a double house payment to catch up and not lose the house. Unfortunately, some of the money had to come out of my groceries and medication money. It was either peanut-butter for the kids and test strips or the diuretic. Well, the test strips and pb won out. > Next time take those rings off *before* your hand > swells that much - I usually do, but this time they went up during the night. Like dramatically up during the night. I woke up and had to use dish soap to get them off. Yuck. > Did your doctor also put you on protein restrictions because of the kidney > damage? Be very careful right now! Yes, I do 20% protein, 20% fat and 60% carb. But, I try to eat only healthy choices for carbs and protein. Lean meats and veg/fruit instead of the icky white stuff. It means 5 little meals so my bg doesn't go up with the carbs. I am sitting in a holding pattern until Friday. Bye the way, Sue, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! on your loss last week! At least today I'm back on track, but so far all I've had to eat was a bit of yogurt, not even my breakfast yet. For a change, I'm just not that hungry.
