Doctor Don, in Charlotte/Statesville NC (practices either place) is very

good and very reasonable. I don't know his rates as my surgery was a bit ago and

he has probably gone up some but I had tummy tuck and breast augmentation. I

have his number and will be glad to share my experience if you're interested.

I've visited Costa Rica as a tourist, and I've read a lot online from people

that had wonderful experiences, but I wouldn't go there if I had a choice

due to being far away from home and also I'm not sure how equipped they are if

something unusual goes wrong.

Just my input, don't get defensive people that have gone there!

Hi. I would like to have a tummy tuck too. But I still need to lose a few more

pounds.

Were you happy with the results? How long did it take for you to re-coop?

You are right about having your surgery near home. I know that the prices are

cheaper, but if something were to go wrong, that is a long way to go for

treatment.

Thanks,

I know that Doctor Rutledge and Dr. Don used to prefer you wait for 1 year

with your weight stabilized prior to doing the surgery. I imagine that's still

the criteria It's an excellent idea because your body will adjust for a year

even after you quit losing weight.

I'm very happy with the surgery and have never regretted it. Hubby was

delighted with the results as well. In fact, he called me his " trophy wife " .

He

never complained about my body nor made any remarks to make me self

conscious, but I had a huge flopping stomach after losing all that weight. Plus

I had

problems with yeast infections under the excess skin as well.

Recovery took a bit longer than I anticipated because I had problem with my

drains but there wasn't a lot of pain and what there was I controlled with

pain meds.

My LBL with a new butt was right at $17K. Dr. H basically took the fat from

the top of my lower back (below the waist) and pulled it down to create a

butt. It was really an amazing procedure. I also have (at my request) a

vertical incision from breast bone to pubic area. Keep in mind, I lost 235

pounds, so it isn't your " typical " weight loss even for WLS patients. I had

LOTS of skin and he told me that while my stomach would be flat, I would

have some lax skin on the sides. I wanted that gone too and the only way was

to have the vertical cut. Bottom line with PS, you trade off contour for

scars. That was ok for me. I just don't scar badly and I really didn't care.

As for the price, it was a 7 ish hour surgery. It was expensive and there

were some surgeons I talked to that were less but it is hard to compare. One

has a procedure that is one approach and another has a slightly different

approach. I chose Dr. H in part, for the same reason I chose Dr. R. He was

confident, but not terribly cocky. He could have cared less that I was an

attorney and so many doctors are terrified to have attorney's as patients. I

want someone who is not afraid of me. I also thought if I got into trouble

he could handle it...and thank GOD that was one of my criteria.

I considered going to CR and I think the doctors are just as competent. That

said, I am SO VERY VERY GLAD I was HERE when I had complications. It was

terrifying and I am sure it would have been more so to have been out of the

country. It was also easier on my family. When you compare costs make sure

you add in the stay and all the travel etc. When I did that, it really

wasn't an amazing difference. I was lucky, however, in that my insurance

paid almost all of it. I had balance issues with the over hang. I was

stumbling and falling at least once a month. I had gone to a massage

therapist for a couple of years and she had documented every fall. I went to

a physical therapist and she evaluated the balance and it was indeed waaaaay

off. The surgery did make a difference. My overhang just had a life of its

own!

Anyway, good luck finding the money. I want to have more done. (It's like

re-doing one room of the house and then you want another one done!) It will

take some time to afford it, but I WILL have the rest done. It is that

important to me. It really isn't about the vanity. For me, it's finishing

the job...it is restoring my body to normal. I could have lived a fine life

with the weight loss only, but I feel so darn NORMAL with this fixed and it

made a huge difference in my look. I have " normal " people who question it

all the time. I could care less...it really just doesn't matter if they get

it or not...I do.

a little - mostly i felt pressure in my chest from my breasts. the tummy surprisingly enough was not painful except for the fact that you cannot stand upright at first so mostly i had and still have some back pain. but i am amazed at the results. i had what looked like a 2nd belly button from my port being flipped and it created what looked like a hole in my skin and that is now gone. definately worth any discomfort. caprisemrsdash1966 <krrecruiting@...> wrote: Who did your tummy tuck and breast aug? Hi Sara,

I am from Las Vegas, and unfortunately there are not any good ones

anymore! I work in Los Angeles and travel back to Vegas often, I have

had all of my work done here in Beverly Hills. They are the best that I

have found for the money! And it is not that far to travel to get the

work done right! I have had a full tummy tuck, facelift, armlift,

breastlift with implants and liposuction on my back and legs. If you

want the names of the Doctors email me and I will let you know. Each

one specializes in particular types of work.

IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT MEXICO MAYBE YOU SHOULD ASK DR A'S OFFICE WHOM THEY WOULD RECOMEND. JUST A THOUGHT.Marie Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear. - Mark Twain

From: karensvenson <karensvenson@...>Subject: Plastic Surgery Date: Sunday, August 24, 2008, 11:46 PM

Hi, This is my 3rd inquiry for any recommendations for a tummy tuck in Mexico. How about it? There must be someone out there who went back to Mexico for plastic surgery & had a good experience. Hope someone can help me. I was banded on 1/16/08 & have lost 95 lbs as of today. Down to 180 lbs from 275. Only 20 to go! I can't wait to get rid of this excess skin once I get to goal. Had a happy experience with Dr. A & wish to have another happy experience in Mexico. Please reply.
