Anyone here know of any good garden sprays to get rid of caterpillars from the garden? A friend of mine is looking for something. I was thinking of telling her to mix up some garlic and water and spray that but I'm not sure. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Lynn, It depends what you are spraying. Caterpillars on roses can be killed with a little dish detergent in a spray bottle of water. I have done this several times this year because roses are so susceptible to caterpillars - different varieties too. However, when I used this on a snowball bush to kill aphids, the leaf buds went brown afterwards. I'm not sure if it was my spraying or the aphids sucking all the sap out that did it.... If you have a bad infestatio of caterpillars BT will kill them and it's natural. (Bacillus Thungerosis sp?) For tent catperpillars, I tend to cut down the web and burn it. I love butterflies, so if I see the caterpillars from the Swallowtail (on Dill, Parsley or Queen Anne's Lace) I leave them undisturbed. They don't really bother the plants that much anyway. The Monarch caterpillar feeds on Milkweed, so I leave them alone too. HTH, and the K9's Anyone here know of any good garden sprays to get rid of caterpillars from the garden? We have been using a solution of diluted neem oil and detergent and

also Diatomaceous Earth (DE), all over our garden.

The neem solution keeps alot of the flying critters at bay, but it

cant be too strong or it will " burn " leaves.

The DE is great for crawling critters (even spiders) and we used it

in the garage with pretty good results too.
