I can't believe this co-worker...who is she trying to fool? It's people like her who fail with this that makes the insurance companies not want to cover this surgery.Kelli <psichikel@...> wrote: I have this co-worker that just came back from having the gastric bypass on Monday. I had no idea she was going to have it but when I seen her I was able to see the stitches and so forth. Well, we got to talking and I was telling her I was going to have the lapband, she just goes Oooh, as if I was choosing the wrong surgery. I shrugged it off and we talked about her diet thus far. She goes well you know this is a tool and you have to work with it...I agreed (no new news here), then she goes she is on the liquid diet then added with a smile...but you know I've already had a cookie to eat

yesterday...she goes I'll just be easy with the cookies. My jaw hit the floor. Here I am on my pre-op diet trying my very best to keep away from those things, which I have had no cookies, candy, or the other crap I used to eat. I went back to my desk and I was sitting there thinking, here she has insurance willing to pay for the surgery and she's already blowing the doctor's prescribed diet of only liquids by eating a cookie!!! How is this surgery going to be a "tool" for her? I shook my head in disbelief and will eagerly wait to see how she turns out a few months down the road. I know she did say that now the doctors are now placing some rubber band thing there because they know some of their patients end up going back to their old habits, this is to keep it from stretching. She told me don't worry you can eat whatever you want just smaller amounts...well if she is eating cookies already I hate to see what she will

eat in 2wks when she is on solids. Anywho, I just thought that was unbelievable. As for my diet, I am doing okay I've used some of Slim Fast Optima though I don't really care for them that much. I also have my protein shakes, chili beans, tuna, turkey, shrimp, chicken and soups. I've had some popcorn just as a snack but only just a little bit...that's the next thing for me to give up. I bought some fruit to keep me away from popcorn and of course lots of crystal light. I was out for lunch the other day with my friend we went to Subway, I had the low carb high protein wrap which was very good...5 net carbs in all and LOTS of Chicken!!! It's better than the sandwiches. However, I am not eating out everyday, it just happened we were out shopping and stopped for lunch. Anywho, that's what I've been doing so far. Kelli
