I saw someone on the bus with a cellphone and he had the cord from the phone

to his ear so the phone wasn't near his head. Has anybody heard if these are

easy to get? I have a Bosch World Phone and Omnipoint provides my service.

My cousin carried her cell phone on her hip for a couple of years before she

developed cancer to her hip. Coincidence? You decide for yourself. If I ever

get a cell phone it will be for emergency use only.

You don't operate the phone on your hip--does it transmit something when

it rings on the hip? I hate it when people call me on cell phones. The

transmission always cuts out. I use a ham radio periodically though,

and am thinking about getting some family radios to use in the woods.

Oh, ok. I take it they have to be " on " to ring, etc.? I've only used

an old car model once or twice. Cell phone mania looks to be a big boon

for the medical field--keep those cancer patients coming! They are all

over the place where I live. J.

Yes, I got a new bell atlantic phone with headset. The EMF radiation right

against the head with a cell phone is very dangerous. It gets exponentially

smaller as you move the phone away from you. I previously noticed I got

brain fog after talking on the cell phone before getting the headset. It's

easier to drive too.

My husband purchased a headset for his SPRINT phone at Best Buy. That is an

appliance type store with music and computer supplies here in Texas. I

think that any store like that will have headsets for most cell phones. It

has made a major difference in his driving ! hahah Both hands are not on

the wheel and he's not so distracted !

THis widget reminds me of the EM diodes I have been using for several

years. I bought them at www.toolsforwellness.com I can't offer any

anecdotes of changes I noticed, but they do consistently test positive

with kinesiology, so I believe in them. That's whay I wear a teslar

watch. It has a diode circuit built in it.

Thanks, V, I'll order one of these for myself & one for my ex, who is

about to go cellular.

i think it's a matter of individual preferance and signal pickups in your

particular area...i've used the nokia, panasonic, kyocera and motorola and all

worked well...i'm able to use the telecoil on my 3G with both the motorola and

kyocera...my son goes gets every new phone that comes out it seems, while i'm

still using my trusty nokia...but i will upgrade soon...it's not even so much

the phones as the provider...i use AT & T and have not experienced any problems at

all; my mom had sprint and i had a lot of static on her phone...my son is

currently using nextel and i've had good reception on his phone...u really need

to try out as many phones as u can in the store; but one thing is for sure, and

i think many will agree with me, that cell phones seem to be much better than

regular phones...i use regular phones also, but cells are superior! good luck!

Hi there

I am in Australia and have a Nucleus 24c. I use both the 3G and body

pack. I have a CDMA nokia mobile 6385, I was lucky to be able to

change from GSM to CDMA as there tends to be less interference from

the CDMA network.

I have tried using both the telecoil and the microphone of my phone

as well as other peoples GSM phones, it is a case of personal

preference and also what works in the circumstances. Ie I might be

wearing the 3G with built in telecoil and I might just happen to be

standing near a high voltage power unit so am getting interference

from that. Also If I sit in my car (stationary of course) and turn

the telecoil on, I pick up the ignition coil. So in these cases

using the microphone will work. Best thing to do is try before you

buy. Also I am aware that there are some hands free products

available that allow the user to plug into bottom of most phones and

there is a microphone as well as an earhook which is a telecoil

adapter. This might be an option for some as well.

Cheers

Aack! My cell lives in my purse, so it does go to the gym with me, but

it stays in my locker with the ringer off. Geez! How hard is it to

unplug and focus for a little while?? LOL!

--- We only have our cell phones and not a home phone since we find

it cheaper that way..so like I stopped bringing my cell phone in the

gym..or I just turn it off. and if people are like... " why didn't you

answer? " I am like... " umm..no answery cell phoney while I work outy "

(that was supposed to sound like spade or chris farley! lol)

but yeah..that is really annoying as heck! thankfully at least at the

time I go to the gym..no one does that!

One time I went to the gym and answered my phone..one time..cause

some stuff was going on and it was when we were buying this house..I

like ran out of there...I was soo embarassed! I get very embarassed

to talk on my phone any where..I am really quiet or find another

place or call them back. lol

Hi Gals and Guys:

Tomorrow I go for my appointment with the neurotologist who will do the CI

surgery if it is deemed appropriate from a medical perspective. Are there any

people out here who had their surgery at Medical College of Virginia?

Meanwhile, I'm on my Phonak Claros and just wanted to report in on my

exciting entry into the cell phone world. Last weekend my husband and I bought

a set

of Motorola phones (yeah! the ones with the cameras! though, those are

definitely a novelty and not really needed at this time) and I hear better on

them

than I do with my amplified phone!

My hearing loss is of the nature that I don't benefit much from telecoils,

though I can purchase a loop if I want to.

I had tried to use cell phones from time to time, and was always unsuccessful

with them. These Motorola phones are incredible. My audiologist said that

she had heard good things about them, and also said the shape of them (they are

nice size flip phones) helps me position them right where I need them, on the

microphone of my BTE aids.

What model phone did you get? I can hear on the phone a little with

I am able to use a cell phone as long as it doesn't cause any buzzing. Since

I don't have one yet, I don't know which of them cause buzzing or not. What I

don't like about the last cell phone I used (my friend's) was that I couldn't

hear my own voice while I was talking. I have 100% telelcoil on my T swtich,

which can be changed, but for now I like it this way.

HI all!

I'm sorry that I haven't posted here in ages, but I have been extremely busy

for almost the past year with a new girlfriend in my life! I met her on a

singles cruise last June in Barcelona. We've been dating ever since!

Anyways, she wants me to get a cell phone for emergencies and stuff. I had

two cell phones before. Now I would like to ask you what you recommend since I

haven't had one now for almost two years. I do remember people recommending the

Motorola Star Tac, but that is discontinued now. Another one the Motorola

V60? Isn't the CDMA technology better than the TDMA technology? Or vice versa?

Also heard about some Samsung model. Lastly, isn't Verizon the preferred network

providor than Cingular?

Also, I would only be using it like one minute a month, which is why I

cancelled it 2 years ago, but with a girlfriend now who needs some " assurance " ,

it's

different. What about the cell phone (Staples) where you can buy a little

" phone card " and put it in the cell phone and only pay for what you buy, rather

than a monthly fee every month?

I need a little refreshing course here on cell phone models, so please help

me! I have the Platinum BTE with the T-Mic.

Thanks a million!

Beth,

I need to redo what I said about static interference. made me

realize that was what you probably were talking about, not the shocking

kind. LOL

(such a shocking world, I probably shocked some here too and uhm,

well......)

,

My new flip phone is an LG LX5550. My old flip phone was a Kyocera

flip phone, 5100 if I remember right. I loved it, and used it for 3

years before it froze to death (got snowed on then was in my truck

while I was at work and temp got down into single digits, and

moisture inside the phone froze and killed the phone). It had a

good life, though. LOL

Re: microwaves

For years I refused to own a cell phone then about 5 years ago my husband

went to the doctor. I was on an outing with students (had signed out of

school, so they should have known where I was)...anyway, what the doctor way

put them in a panic and by the time they found me, he was already in

surgery. The next day I had a cell phone.

Also, I transport students in my car and have one that may have physical

problems. I have had one that got violent in my car.

Last summer my kids and I took a little road trip (camped for five weeks and

drove from Michigan to the Pacific Ocean) and while we were gone my mom and

dad drove to Florida (their house was just off the coast, right in the path

of Hurricane Charlie). We were able to (partly) stay in contact with them

(until they got to the area where all the towers were gone <lol>)

I know that cell phones may or may not be as safe as they're made out to be.

I have to weigh (like with microwave ovens) whether or not the possible

risks outweigh the benefits. I take precautions (my cell phone case also

has a little pocket for an " ear boom " head set that I use to keep the phone

away from my head). I may use the phone on the road, but not when there's

traffic. I pull over if I have to dial. Stuff like that.

For me, the benefits of having a cell phone (and knowing that my kids have

them) outweighs the possible risks. I don't have my head in the sand and

refuse to even see that there *are* risks, I have just weighed them.

;-) Ellen
