scar tissue and cholesteatoma

I understand the definitions of both words, however, is there much difference in

the effects of either on the middle ear? I've had previous surgeries and wonder

if scar tissue would cause the same problems as cholesteatoma. Does scar tissue

continue to grow and impact hearing? Is it as corrosive as cholesteatoma? After

cholesteatoma removal is scar tissue a problem? I have surgery Feb 3 and am

counting the hours.
