Little People of America (LPA) is seeking workshop presenters for our 53rd

Annual Conference that will be held July 1 – July 8, 2011 in Anaheim,

California. LPA is a non-profit organization devoted to the medical,

professional, and social well-being of individuals with short stature (4'10 " and

under) caused by one of the more than 200 medical forms of dwarfism.

Approximately 3000 members from around the world will gather in Orange County.

Free medical clinics, informational workshops, and socializing with peers in a

welcoming environment are the cornerstones of the conference. Off-site tours

and on-site social activities are organized daily to round out the conference

experience. Many families make this conference their vacation destination for

the year.

The majority of workshops will occur Sunday, July 3 through Wednesday, July 6,

2011. Sunday, July 3 is devoted to medical workshops given by members of the

Medical Advisory Board, receptions, and parents meetings. Appropriate workshops

will be scheduled for targeted groups during other days of the conference . Our

2011 conference will include two keynote sessions with Jodee Blanco, expert on

bullying and author of Please Stop Laughing at Me on Tuesday, July 4.

Complimentary workshops will be scheduled on that day. We are also seeking

workshops for our Spanish Speaking members.

The seven workshop tracks offered this year are: 1) Parents, 2) Medical, 3)

Personal Development and Health, 4) Education & Employment, 5) Practical Needs,

6) Workshops for Kids, Sibs and Teens, and 7) LPA Officer and LPA Business

Workshops (i.e. how to be a chapter president).

In particular, the Conference Committee is seeking proposals that address these

issues:

- Medical Issues and Healthcare Access (insurance questions)

- Information and Resources for parents (Birth to three, IEPs, school

modifications, etc). The LPA National Parent Coordinator leads most parent

workshops, but anyone with specific knowledge is welcome to apply as well.

- College preparation, the vocational rehabilitation system, ADA guidelines, and

other resources

- Clothing alterations, Accessible Housing/ Home Modifications, Assistive

/Adaptive technology

- Health and wellness, self esteem, dating, relationships, exercise

Want to apply to be a workshop presenter? Here's is what you need to do:

Contact Lourash at allison@... to receive a form to complete

with your workshop information.

Accepted workshop presenters are responsible for their own travel accommodations

and related expenses, including copying of handouts, conference registration and

hotel expenses. The completed workshop schedule, including dates and times, for

the 2011 National Conference will be set by February 28, and will be included in

the 2011 Registration Booklet that is mailed to members in March.

Workshops should not include the selling of products or solicitation of any kind

(unless specifically approved by the Board). The conference includes an Expo

featuring information and products from companies and organizations that have a

service that fills a need for members. Companies that wish to sell items or

promote a good or service should contact the Expo Coordinator, Molina at
