Guest guest
Hi , I am Kim in SC, Dr. R did my surgery in Feb 2001, and I just had my tummy tuck in August 21st of this year. I tried everything to get my tummy flatter including hiring a trainer for seven months and it wouldn't budge. The weight hardly budges either but that is another topic. Find a surgeon that done lots of tummy tucks and talk to some of his patients; I used a surgeon that a friend had good results with and was please with her out come. My surgery went well; the Surgeon removed about 10 pounds of belly rolls. I had two belly rolls, one below the navel and one above- it is all nice in flat and I think I will buy a two piece swim suit this summer. It does hurt! I have no health problems so my procedure was as an outpatient and I only stayed overnight. You will need a month to recover and even longer than that before you can lift more than 10 pounds. I am still having some swelling so I still wear the compression garment – “a girdle” for about 12 hours a day, but I am unusual in this aspect most people have stopped swelling after three months. I am going to try lymphatic message therapy this week to see if it will improve the swelling. I have not resumed my more vigorous exercise routine that I had before surgery, but I am walking and the surgeon said I should start exercising more. I am back into my routine at work, I went back to work after 4 weeks, and I have started doing the yard work at home. Insurance paid for everything which was great since Dr. R was out of pocket. Overall I am pleased, I look much better in my clothes and hopefully in another month I will not have the swelling anymore, which mostly just annoying rather than painful. I had hope to lose some more weight as a result of the surgery since I have crept up 25 lbs in the past seven years and the surgeon had predicted more of a weight loss but I seem to be down only by what he removed but I believe that is due to my low metabolism and my body now may be highly efficient in removing calories out of the food I eat as result of the MGB. I am glad I had the surgery and this summer I think I will be very glad, but it hurt enough I will not be going back for anything else. I did not have much excess skin on the arms and legs. Hope this helps. You can email me directly if you have more questions. Kim M. Dr. R 2/22/01 Pre MBG 251, lowest 145, now
