Hello everyone,

I had my 1st operation a year ago last march to remove a C'toma from my left

ear, my surgeon told me that to avoid being too radical at that time he had to

leave a tiny amount of the disease which was attached to the last hearing bone i

had left, surgeon wanted to leave me with the hearing bone, so advised to

re-operate 12 months later when the C'toma had grown big enough to allow him to

scalpel it straight off the bone,,

well i had my second op to remove the final bit of C'toma, .. when i came

around from the surgery my surgeon told me that i didnt have any C'toma at all,

i asked said to him 'i thought you said you left some in' he replied ' i thought

i did' ... im just really confused by this? as i believe C'toma does not just

dissapear or dissolve, i can only conclude what he thought was a tiny C'toma

originaly must have been something else .. but im still confused, my surgeon is

an excellent surgeon he really is and i am happy with him and what he has done

for me. just wanted know if anyone else had same experience, even if other

surgeons have had similar.

Thanks and all the best to everyone.

There are 2 possibilities:

1. He removed all the disease the first time round but wasn't absolutely sure which is why he wanted a second look.

2. He left a very small bit which has disappeared on its own (which can happen)

I suspect he got it out all the first time but there was a bit he was uncertain about

With best wishes
