Guest guest
From 's website: http://www.emofree.com/cases/two.htm Two successful uses of EFT and BSFF Hi Everyone, Member Bea Scarlata shares two case histories combining EFT with BSFF. Hugs, Dear : I have had two wonderful experiences with the use of EFT combined with BSFF, which I would like to share with you. The first was with one of my clients whose SUDS level never went to zero (whom I have mentioned to you). Jane (not her real name) is a young woman who has been in five auto accidents over the past three years - all of which took place when it was raining (and none of which were her fault). Her two children were with her in four of the accidents. Her car was totally destroyed twice, but fortunately no-one was seriously hurt in any of the accidents. This past Wednesday afternoon was Jane's ninth session. (Thank God, she didn't come Thursday afternoon when the tornado struck Nashville!) Up until then, I had mainly worked to help her desensitize her fearful memories with a combination of EFT, EMDR, and the first four steps of BSFF. I did not use the forgiveness procedure as her SUDS level never went below 3-4 (down from 8-10, depending on which accident we were processing - during EMDR, she remembered two other auto accidents she had been in as a child). This is a difficult problem to resolve completely, because it is an on-going one - she has to drive her children to pre-school every day; she has to drive to and from my office - and it has rained during every one of her sessions! In addition, when dealing with anyone who has been raised in a strict Fundamentalist home, it's risky to mention God or Jesus, as a great deal of harm has been done in their names - so I generally restrict myself to the third person of the blessed trinity (the Holy Spirit), if it seems appropriate to mention spirituality at all. In Jane's case, I wasn't sure if it was wise to use the last part of the BSFF procedure, or if she even believed in God anymore. Then Wednesday when I checked her SUDS level and found her fear gone, and anger in it's place - I decided to try the BSFF procedure again (after explaining the purpose and concepts involved once more). I had her say each statement three times instead of just once (because she was so blocked), as she tapped her EB, UE and BF. After the first four steps, her SUDS level was still 3 - so I took her through the steps again - and her SUDS level went to zero. (Hallelujah!) Then, I decided to take a chance and walk her through the forgiveness procedure (praying all the way). When I remembered that she had once told me that EFT was like praying for her - I decided to take her all the way through the part about forgiving God, and then asking God to open her mind and heart toward herself - and show her how to be discerning and alert in the future. Then I added, " And thank you, God, for all my many blessings. " She was very deeply moved, and said she had never felt as calm and peaceful before in her whole life. Then she said, " I feel as though I'm not in this alone, God is with me. " That realization was very empowering, and a great comfort to her. And, needless to say, I was thrilled and delighted for her. (Now, she wants me to work with her children. I think I'll have her hold them one at a time, while they tell me about their memories of the accidents and watch the EMDR lightbar - or while she is tapping herself, and I am tapping myself. Or maybe both. Any suggestions?) The second client I want to tell you about is a 40-year-old adult child of an alcoholic (two alcoholics to be exact). (not his real name), has been in therapy on and off for 20 years, as well as several 12-Step Groups, and has never been able to stop ruminating on the abandonment he suffered as a child and adolescent because of his parent's alcoholism, and the subsequent shame and betrayal he suffered at the hands of his grandmother, uncle, school authorities, and fellow students. I used EFT during the first half of his third session, and when his SUDS level went to zero on all of these issues, I ended the session with the BSFF forgiveness procedure, and added appreciation for his many blessings. He is a practicing Roman Catholic, and very familiar with the concepts of forgiveness, and thanksgiving. said it was an extremely powerful experience for him, and was visibly moved. Then the following week, he told me that he is no longer having any bad dreams about his parents (which he has had 4-5 times every week for 20 years). Now, all his dreams about them are pleasant dreams - and all this thoughts are pleasant too. He has a wonderful wife, and they are building a new home in the country - and now he feels free to enjoy his life as it is today. He even said that his employer no longer bothers him. (That was his last appointment - four sessions in all for resolution.) Once again, my deepest appreciation goes out to you and Larry, for your generosity in sharing your work with me and all you other students. You will never know all the people you have helped, and all the good you have done. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! With love and best wishes, Bea Scarlata
