Guest guest
I have a questions for Pat and Lyse, have they given you any suggestions on preventing an ulcer that the rest of us may use?? Were you both still eating yogurt?? Taking your benefiber or citracel?? Just wondering if there is something that got you to the awful ulcer place that we can do to avoid it? Hope you both are 100% again very soon! in Fla Re: Re: Ulcer follow up Pat, I remember you from way back when, and followed you and many others through the years. I also had my surgery in 2001, and despite my anemia and ostioporis (sp) I've had few complications. I am sooooo very grateful for the opportunity to have had this surgery.. I rarely post but wanted to say how sorry I am that you've had to go through such a horrible experience. I hope that you're on the mend and will soon be feeling like your old self once again. Take care of yourself and have wonderful holidays. Pat P from RI Re: Ulcer follow up What are the odds of this happening?? Do you know others that this has happened to?? How did you get Dr. R. involved in this and where did you have the surgery done to have the bypass taken down?
Guest guest
Just wondering if the culprit in both of your cases was H. pylori? H. pylori is a bacteria which has been found to cause ulcers. I am a post lapbander (I had it removed in July) waiting to get my stuff together to have the MGB and I recently had a blood test that showed I had H. pylori. I did have gastritis with the band which is one of the reasons I had it removed. Now that the H. pylori blood test was positive, I am taking a 2 week course of antibiotics which consists of 4 pills 4 times a day! Do post-op MGBers test for H. pylori routinely? I think it woud be a good idea. Good luck to you both and so glad you are on the mend. Guest guest
, Yes I still to this day have yogurt every single day and take my citricel. I dont know if there would have been anything different to do then what I did. I went and had several endoscopes and colonoscopies over the past year and a half. None showed the area of the bleeding and I guess because the bleeding was in the area of the bypass and did not show. Sorry I cant tell you more because I dont quite understand it either.
