Guest guest
Hi Sue I wonder if you are short of zinc. If you can get hold of a tablet, put it in your mouth and if you don't need zinc, you will get a quite coppery taste. However, if you do have a shortage of zinc, you will taste nothing but chalk. What you describe could be helped with more of this mineral. Luv - Sheila Since I've been on the levothyroxine I've been producing enough saliva. But, off and on I have this odd feeling that my saliva is slightly burning my mouth ... especially my tongue (which btw has the usual notches). .._,___
Guest guest
Thanks for replying, Sheila. I take zinc, magnesium and calcium supplements, so I doubt whether I'm short of zinc. I also eat quite a few bananas.

Guest guest
Appologies to those that took offense. For myself experiencing a single episode of c-toma (removed 2007), why would I even contribute to such a valuable forum for support with a comment that would be offensive? Jane said it, well wrote it perfectly, "...sometimes things are lost in translation" especially when they are read online. Humor is good medicine, laugh a little....NO laugh alot! Guest guest
I'm curious if the person who originally posted the question about the lemon sensation was INFACT being serious? That would be a very odd thing to experience and I myself would wonder if it's normal if it happened to me, wouldn't you? Everyone starting joking about it... which was funny and all, but no one seemed to take it as a serious question... which I would have to assume it was. When I first read the post, I thought it was a serious question, was I missing something? If you had a enlarged canal, I can see you touching it occasionally, picking something out of it that blew in, brushing hair away. I don't mean to be a buzz kill, some of the jokes were funny, but I would remember we all alot of strange questions on here... my son's ear whistles when he blows his nose-I asked about that. I wouldn't have minded people joking about it with respect. Ya know what I mean? I'm just curious why everyone thought it wasn't a serious post?? Guest guest
It was the statement below that kind of made the whole thing kind strange for me and blew everything out of proportion. Please see below: "HELLO I WAS WANTING HELP NOT HUMOR" The term "HELLO in ALL CAPS in this instance is condescending. It was quite obvious the person who wrote the initial email was NOT trying to be rude...it seemed to me that he was trying to make a gentle joke. Then the person who wrote "HELLO"....was being over sensitive. Just my view. Guest guest
I certainly hope Nate doesn't leave the list. He's been a knowledgeable and helpful soul. Our taste nerve is in the middle ear along with the facial nerve ... and perhaps others. Weird taste sensations are par for the course for many of us. I actually had a strong metallic taste before I was finally diagnosed. That was a bit scary. For me that went away right after the surgery. Guest guest
I have the " sour lemon " taste in my mouth a little less than ten years after my first big c-toma surgery. I had my left taste nerve removed as it was too wrapped in growth to save. Sometimes the facial nerves are stretched during surgery, so that funny taste is fairly common. It should resolve before too long. If it doesn't, then it's time to contact your surgeon and see what up.
Guest guest
Many strange things happen that the doctors could not find the reason for them. I for example, after taking a high doses of antibiotics for 2 week, developed a sour test while or after eating sweets and other carbohydrates. Had anyone have this kind of an experience?
