Guest guest
Hello group! I was scheduled for a CWD on Friday, 7/22 at NY Eye and Ear. My eustachian tube is shot on the left side and the cat scan showed recurrent c-toma. I got a second opinion and the 2nd doctor agreed with the CWD. Well, the surgeon had a change of heart during the surgery!! He said he felt I was still young and he didn't want to leave me with a large open cavity where I'd have to see him every 4-6 months. He said the surgery was " challenging " but he did his best to reconstruct the ear canal using a lot of temporal muscle grafts. My eardrum was shot- he said it looked like old salt and I have one hearing bone left. He said he's confident that he got all of the disease out. There was also an olive size c-toma in there. He said he did his best to give me a somewhat normal ear canal. I was very surprised! He was really convinced that a CWD was totally necessary. It's still very sore, I hope the healing goes well. Also, be careful if your doctor prescribes the pain med, Nucynta. He said it was fairly new and very strong. Well I took only one and I had a bad reaction to it and ended up in the ER that night. My heart was racing - it was pounding while I was trying to sleep. The ER doctor said it is a bad medicine that was actually pulled off the market years ago and remanufactured under a new name. I've read some stories online where people have had bad experiences with it (passing out, hallucinations) My mind was racing as well and my b.p. was high. I'm on Tylenol 3 now for pain. Be wary of this med - you may not tolerate it that well and it is very expensive…Good luck everyone.
