Guest guest
, I am sorry for your sisters problems. I will pray for her and you also. Keep yourself strong. Do you have a website that you post on? I would love to hear your story. Sounds like you took the MGB tool and ran with it. Congrats! Tammy From: <starpgazer@...> Subject: MGB VS RNY Date: Friday, July 25, 2008, 11:50 AM It's been a long night. I had the MGB almost three years ago I have lost about 80 pounds. I thank God for leading me to Dr. .Rutledge. It was worth the time and effort to drive 65 miles to CLOS seminars and not to mention all the paperwork that I had to do. To make a long story short, a lot of people think weight loss surgery is a quick fix. I am here to tell you that it is not. It's a challenge! You must choose the right food, take supplements and you must exercise! You must give up the soda, coffee and tea. It can be nerve racking. My sister had been contemplating weight loss surgery for four years. I told her she needed to exercise and go on a diet and stop smoking before she had it done. I thought this would get her into a routine. I asked her to do research on the type of weight loss surgery she was considering. Talk to other patients that have had the procedure done at this hospital .As usual she did not do any of it. This is typical of my little sister. She decided to have the surgery (RNY). I tried to talk her out of it because of the hospitals success rate and because she never did anything I told her to do prior to having the surgery. It takes discipline. She went in on Tuesday of this week. The hospital had to insert a line in her Jugular vein in her neck. (This is when I would have refused to have the surgery) This took all day. The next day she went in at 8:30 to have surgery she did not get out of surgery until 6:00 pm. (My surgery only took 33 minutes) The doctor said he ran into a lot of scar tissue, from her two previous surgeries (hernia and appendix) and she had a fatty liver. If that was not enough she started hemorrhaging and had to have a blood transfusion. I was really hard seeing her in Surgery ICU spread eagle on the bed with an ENG tube down her nose. When I left her room I thanked GOD again and again for Dr. Rutledge and his staff. I did not have to go through what my sister has gone through. Dr. Rutledge made sure I knew all the pros and cons of the MGB. I was well informed. I think my surgery only lasted 33 minutes instead of 10 hours. I was up and walking about an hour after I had surgery my sister is still in the bed. I was released from the hospital the next day. After I was released I went shopping for a couple of hours. The next day I went shopping again and walked on the treadmill for one hour. I think I made the right choice by having the MGB. I just wished my sister would have chosen to have the MGB. Please pray that my hard headed sister makes it through these difficult times. She has a 15 year old son she has to raise. He has already lost one parent. Thank you , Thank you ,Thank you Dr. Rutledge. You are the greatest. If I had to do it again I would do it in a NY minute!!! in NC 238 to
