Guest guest
Best wishes for your CT scan. I have been through several of them and they were no biggie for me. An MRI is usually done on the brain, but it can be done on other parts of the body also. I have had an MRI also. The giant balls are great, aren't they? I have also recently discovered yoga as being great for scoliosis, and also swimming. My kids and I just joined a health club which has an indoor pool, and we are loving it. ~Carolyn In a message dated 1/30/01 3:37:43 PM Central Standard Time, wrdtech@... writes: > > Everyone hold good thoughts for me tomorrow afternoon. Guest guest
Hi Carol! I enjoyed your post about your boys. It put a smile on my face. So there now we are even. My post about my CI Moment put one on your face and your's made me smile. That is what is soooo good about these forums. Good luck with the results of Kristian's CT Scan! And happy looking at it. I got a real nice souviner, from my ENT, after my surgery. He took a picture of the implant inside my cochlea and gave it to my sisters to give to me later on. I was sooo sick that week that I didn't see it for a whole week. It's a great 8 X 6 colored picture and shows the electrodes running through my cochlea to my brain. I had to sign a release prior to surgery for allowing a picture to be taken; but my ENT refused to divulge why I a picture would be taken so this was a real nice surprise that week! LOL I got a quick peek of it before my niece asked if she could take it to school with her. A Psychology teacher found out, from one of his students about my implant and so he asked my niece to do a presentation for the whole class. I was laying on the couch and giving her as much information as my fuzzy brain could give 6 days after surgery. It was funny!!! I was looking at my picture one second then next minute, " Can I take it to school with me for the presentation? " And oops they were leaving that very minute so there goes the picture. I barely got a peek of it beause I was so busy helping her prepare for her presentation. It was not even for a class she takes. She did a good job!!! Now she says the psychology teacher always stops her in the hall and asks about my progress. The picture got back to me safe and sound 3 weeks later. It's really neat to see the electrodes running through my head. My eye doctor is in awe of it. I had to take in to show him because he wanted a lesson on how my implant works. He was just amazed that I can now hear his voice. Enough babble for now. Have a good day and good luck to Kristian on CT Scan day! Velma N24C 11/25/02 (What a Day!) Guest guest
Hello there, My name is Pam and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I'm in the evaluative stages for a cochlear implant at age 62. My right hearing loss was caused by surgery to remove an acoustic neuroma in 1994. Then 6 weeks later I sustained a contralateral loss in the left ear. I'm very concerned about the cochlear implant procedure having any effect on my balance nerve and facial nerve. Has anyone had experience with acoustic neuromas and cochlear implants? The acoustic neuroma left me with many after effects but I do cherish what little I have left (my facial nerve is in tact and I can walk and participate in life without falling over) and don't want to rock the apple cart. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks! Pam > From: mygalharley@... > Reply-to: > > Sent from the Internet > > > > Hey Everyone, Glad you are doing better Alice. Hang in there. Guest guest
I have noticed the same thing in my numerous CT scans. The smell/taste is almost metallic, but somehow different. It is like nothing I have ever experienced before. The tech who scanned me had never heard of it, either. It seemed like it was only there when the scan passed over a certain part of the sinuses, but it has been long enough that I cannot remember exactly where it may have been. Tim > > Hello... Guest guest
Where is your port? You mean they scanned your abdomen all the way up to your ribs? I suppose someone could think it was like a cath port for chemo, since that's how I often explain it to people who know how that works. Of course the port is going to the band instead of into an artery. But if there is inflamation around it, that sounds like an issue. What is the reason they did the CT of your abdominal area anyway? Guest guest
Dan, A few weeks back I posted all my stomach/abdomin/bowel issues and listed all the tests that had been done on me to see what is causing my unexplained medical issues/pain/swelling/boat/gas/etc.The Ct scan covered my entire front from breast to below the butt.My port is located to the left of my belly button. If I place my hands on my hips my middle finger sits directly on my port.I told the tech about my lap band but whoever read must have been unaware of my lapband as they refere to it as a catheter. One DR. thinks my symptoms/pain is IBS related and another PC DR thinks it may be adhesions causing my pain.Neither one thinks anything needs to be done to fix my pain/symptoms.. My symptoms have improved since I took a 2 week course of Xifaxan.I am still trying to get my script for Probiotics to be covered by insurance(need a tar).I suggested to the DR that maybe it was Small intestinal bowel overgrowth and he said very possible.I have had great relief with just the 2 week course of meds.I want to follow up with 2 weeks of probiotics as soon as it goes through insurance.I think my body gets overrun with bad bacteria which in turn sets off a host of issues within. Guest guest
Our doc showed us breifly on the computer screen. He had briefly explained the area that showed him the need for surgery. Any other time my son's had ct's they didn't show us the image at all-when all was fine. I've noticed docs don't go into much detail unless you really ask for it. I'm guessing alot of people don't care to know all the details, just want the problem solved... so they don't usually go into a lesson. I'm sure if you ask for more details they'll give it though. Guest guest
Brad,I'm curious too and I got a copy of both the dvd and the typed report from the hospital that did my scans in 2009. I was able to look at the DVD on my computer and read the report before I saw the surgeon, then wrote my questions down and took to pre-op. It was in the report that the radiologist had mentioned all the stuff and I was able to form my questions around what he reported. The report read something like this..."chronic mastioditis, deteriation of the mastiod and sigmoid plate, and noted lunacy in the T1&T2 regions....suspected c-toma", he also mentioned "as noted in 2006 MRI". I went and got a copy of the MRI report immediately and the DVD. I was soooo ^@#* angry that my neurologist told me my MRI was clear in 2006. He did not refer me to an ENT or neurotologist! So mine grew for an additional 3 years! So, from now on I ask to see the reports and get a copy of scans. I'm no doctor but I'm an reasonably educated person and can look stuff up, which is how I found this site. I say ask, ask, ask away!!!LOL-I was not a good girl either but no drunkard. I'd love to know if my fun-loving, college drinking, beer loving may have caused my C-toma or helped it grow. If you find out let us know.
