Hi all, i waw reading these messages from all of you and wanted to

add some of my experiences

i had my bypass done almost 3 years ago by Dr. R in vegas and weighed

in at 305 lbs, i now weigh in at 125 lbs andf cant be any happier.

the only problem i have been having is keeping my sugar levels and

vitamins up until las september. here goes ill try to keep it short

and sweet haha.

i had been having pains in my left side for months ( 3 or 4 months)

and ws ignoring it until the first week in september, one afternoon i

was walking into my house and boom it hit me like a ton of bricks,

the pain was unbelivalbe!!! after about 2 hours i couldnt take it any

more and was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital where i was

told that i had a tear in my my intestines, well from there on it was

one thing after another. within the next 2 weeks i was told that i

had an ulcer that perforatted and that it tore a hole in my

intestines, then was told that my heart doesnt beat fast enough for

my body. they wanted to operate but i refused, i was afraid of what

it would do to my gastic bypass, they treated me with 3 weeks of

severe antibiotics and other things, and to my surprise it seems to

have helped, i still have bad pains and am dealing with it but again

like everyone on this message board says please dont ignore the pain

you are feeling get it checked out asap. as for my heart well i will

be needing a pacemaker soon adn was told i can live a long time with

that helping my heart to beat. im crossing my fingers!!!! i still

have a long way to go to recover but im finally back up to 125 lbs

after weiging in at 100 lbs during my ulcer ordeal.... if anyone has

any suggestions please forward them i can use the help.... again

being a canadian with a bypass not many doctors here know how to deal

with it it was soo scary going through this that they even

contemplated asking DR. R to fly down to deal with it but again being

stubborn and listening to my doctors i made it through and here i

am.... take care everyone and wish me luck

this year in July. It was very serious so I say to everyone if you

have any stomach pain and are anemic please get checked and re-

checked. I had endoscopy after endoscopy and not one showed any

bleeding sites. I was bleeding so severly they had to admit me to ICU

and I recieved 23? units of blood. They couldn't even find out where

I was bleeding on the first surgery for 4 and half hours long. I went

back to surgery two days later and Dr. R was there thank goodness

because he found the spot that was bleeding and took care of it.

Unfortunately my bypass was taken down in that surgery and I have

started to gain weight again. I am?very grateful to be alive even if

I no longer have my bypass.?But anyway please be aware that if you do

have severe stomach pain take care of it immediately so you don't

wind up in this situation.

Hi Lyse!  So happy to hear you are on the mend.  I remember you from our

correspondence back on 2006!!!  I have had a few pains too but so far losec has

reallly helped.  My iron is a bit down but supplements are helping.  My weight

in pretty constant at 175-178 which is good as I am 5'10 "  tall.  I will pay

close attention to my stomach pains from now on.  I usually wrote them off to

eating too many gassy vegies such as sweet and sour cabbage, beans, broccoli and

cauliflower.  Hope you recover completely soon and are problem free from then

on.  Good to read from you!

Silvia
