Hey Guys, I have been out for a while. I hope all is well. Regarding Dr . I did check him out before choosing Dr Aceves. He is a really great Dr. I did see some red flags that concerned me. His facility is very small. It is not a Hospital. Just a clinic. I was worried if i had a complication that there wouldn't be the tools to help. Dr Aceves does all his surgeries at The Hospital Almater. What a great hospital!!. It is top notch. Has an intensive care and every thing if God forbid there was a complication. Dr Aceves too never had a fatality and his team was above and beyond the call of duty. All I can say is check out the facility!!! There is a reason we all chose Dr Aceves!! I would pay the teeny bit extra for the top notch team, facility, support, etc. I love my

band and hope you will be banded very soon! Banded by Dr Aceves 7/20/05 210/133 at goal :00 <mpolk@...> wrote: > Did you get an answer to your question about Dr ? Hi, Yes, I did, in a manner of speaking. When all was said and done, he was the most experienced surgeon I researched. And he had no deaths or seriously negative results against him...no lawsuits, etc. And his

price was reasonable and his staff has worked very well with me (I'm coordinating extra things like teeth whitening while I'm there, etc.) So I'm very happy with my choice already. I'm one of the people Mardy is referring to. Everything she wrote about regarding the doc and hospital are true. It's the only place I would go to. I have even picked my plastic surgeon based on the fact that he works out of the same hospital and I know Dr. Aceves will be in the hospital should complications arise in the plastic surgery. I actually prefer a guy in Tijuana for plastic surgery but knowing Dr. Aceves will be there I'm going to Mexicali. That's how much I swear by him.

I double dawg dare you to find dirt on Dr. Aceves. You won't because it's not there. ;o) I did my research before going to him for my band and I TRIED to find dirt on him. There is none. He's a great doc with a long and dirt-free track record.

I didn't tell anyone about going to Mexico except for two friends and a sister. I went by myself and would do it the same way again.

HI ANDREA

My name is Rosy and I had Lap RNY with Dr. Aceves 03/07/07 and my experience

was amazing, the team in wonderful and very capable of caring for you

regardless the emergency or cirmuncstance. I was born in Mexico and I adore

my country. There are bad things like anywhere else but you will find more

violence in LA than in Mexicali. I have on 8 year old who is also my

inspiration and he was the one taking care of me when I got home. Have you

talked to your children? My son is very dependent and is able to do a lot

for himself, your boys might surprise you. I have lost 33lbs and my boy

already notices the difference because I have the energy to play with him

more than before my surgery. I still have a long ways but with his and my

husband support and love I know that I will do great. It's so much better

to go through a few days of discomfort than a whole life while being obese.

You deserve better, a healthy life, your sons deserve a healthier and

happier mom and ofcourse your husband does to. You can do it, just think

how your life will be once you are at a healthy weight, picture it savor it

during the tough times. Now can you imagine your life without surgery? not

a very positive picture. I want and deserve better, that is why I choose to

put on end to my obesity and GOD is good to me. He has held my hand throgh

out and my son and Husband pamper me more specially during the rough times.

You will be fine just trust in God and if you are here is not a coinsidence

you are suppost to be here.

Blessings,

Hi Sierra --

Welcome to the group. Although I'm not an " article " to support your

decision to your ped, my DS had a severe allergic reaction to the DTaP vax.

Even the ped said we won't be doing that again. That was our wake-up call

that made me question vax. Now, both my kids are partially vaxed, and there

are more vaxs now than when they were first born.

Anyway, I'm , and I live in NY.

There's lots of great info here, and I'm sure you'll find articles.

Hi Sierra,

I'm Robyn, and I'm also in CA. Our son (15 months) has had the Hib, but

nothing else. I've found a lot of really useful information on Mothering

Dot Commune (http://mothering.com/discussions). DTaP is one of the more

popular vaccines to debunk over there. There have been several

discussions in the Delayed & Selective Vax forum that include opinions

and articles.

seeing Dr. Brownstein (the one that works with thyroid issues and

wrote the iodine book) who tested my iodine and it was ZERO. Many

things low too, thyroid, adrenals, pregnenolone, DHEA, iron, ferritin

and Vit D. I am mercury and uranium toxic too. He put me on Armour

thyroid (although I was on Synthroid due to removal of thyroid for

cancer), Biotics Research products - Cytozyme AD (adrenals), DHEA

2mg, Prenenolone 25 mgs, Fe-zyme (iron). All helped get my levels in

line. For Iodine I am on Iodoral (pill form of Lugol's formula) -

can be purchased at www.illnessisoptional.com . Wander over to

www.optimox.com and read the research by Abraham, Brownstein and

others. I just did a loading test with Dr. B and my levels are now

at 66% - saturation is 90% so I have a bit to go. I am dosing at 50

mgs per day. Instead of read meat I would be taking a supplement.

Wow that's an old post. I did my loading test last August. I am feeling

great! I no longer have fatigue or depression or anxiety attacks. The T3

gave me energy and is helping me to lose weight. I had a temp slump over

the winter when I stopped chelation and we didn't realize that was the

issue. My dad died in March as well so that was stressful. I started

chelating again in April and things began to turn around again. Darn that

mercury!

Let me know what you would like to know.

Hi and welcome, I am 44 and have A for 20 years and I am having my first myotomy on Tuesday May 22nd. I am fairly new to the group too. They are a great bunch of people and you will get very good feedback. From what I hear, there are a lot of people who have had Dr. Rice on this site and sing his praises. I live in Canada so I cannot take advantage of his expertise. Well you take care and keep us up-to-date on what's going on. katie gibbens <kt_gibbens@...> wrote: Hello, My name is and have had A. for 25 years. Welcome, I had a Heller M with Dr. Rice. I had the surgery on

Wed. Got out of the hospital on Thursday. Dr. Rice checked me on

Friday. I could have flown home on Sunday but since my reservation

was on Monday Dr. Rice re checked me Monday morning(He let that be my

two week ck and didn't have to do that at home. I flew to New Mexico

and had no problem.

Hi - I can't answer your question as I haven't had my surgery

yet - though I'm curious to see the answer - I'm scheduled for my

consult next Thursday in Vancouver, BC. I'm 43 as well and have had

this for only 5 years - I'm just curious - how have you dealt with A

for 25 years? Have you had other treatments or did your A progress

slowly? Thanks for indulging my curiosity-

Welcome, and I will say that Dr. Rice is a great choice as Me

and Tonia both know! Dr. Rice did my open myotomy in 2002, after a butcher had

gotten a hold of me. I had a bit of a tough time with mine but was up and

around after a few weeks. Full recovery from the open procedure took me about 8

weeks! But every one is different and each surgery is different. Just like this

last one (gall bladder), I’m doing quite well after 1 week of the lap

surgery! Up and around after only a couple of days. I go back to work this next

week and I’m happy to say that I feel great!

Glad to hear you are seeing Dr. Rice. Simply stated, he is the best.

I just had an esophagectomy by him on March 29th (jeez, that sounds

like so long ago now that it is mid-May, it's been 7 weeks already!).

He is fast paced, but well worth it. I had an excellent experience

with Dr. Rice and his staff. I actually got to meet Tonia and her

family when they were in Cleveland following her son's open myotomy,

as we were there for a consult and matched up.

Congratulations, I'm sure you'll do just as well as some of the others.

It's nice to have a place to go like a forum so you all have something

in common. That way you can get extra encouragement and get extra help

when you are transitioning. Surgery wouldn't actually be required for

magnet removal, just a small in-office incision to remove a magnet and

two stitches to close. But I'm glad you've done your research and it is

a good idea, like you've done, to seek some hands on w/all three

companies so you can compare and contrast. I'd encourage everyone to

get your audio to let you touch and try on all of the products by

different companies. It's not really as easy as trading a car if you're

not happy, so finding which one works in your situation has to be done

prior to surgery. I'm sure you you'll be happy when it's all behind you

and you can just move forward w/your new hearing. Good luck and keep us

posted on your surgery.

Florida. No problems! Within the first week, I was caught in the

rain and had no troubles at all. No need to wear a plastic bag or

clip my BTE processor someplace else.

With the Cochlear Freedom I have a choice of rechargeables or

batteries. My rechargeable battery lasts the entire day (about 17

hours - but that varies).

One thing about Cochlear is that it is backwards compatible. No

future surgery needed for upgrades.

Good luck with your surgery whatever CI you choose!

Welcome.

I've had three children, and I " m 39 -- they wanted me to take the shot each time

and I refused. All is fine, me and babies. I would inquire further as to WHY --

YOU need the shot.

My husband's blood was the same (or something, it's been a while) as mine, but

they were insisting *I* take the shot because other women had " lied " about who

the husband was!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh, hell no.

I am SOOOOOOOO glad now that I refused the shot. I do not even fully understand

what the shot is supposed to do, or how women survived thousands/millions of

years of having babies without it.

Ask, ask and ask again until YOU are comfortable with the answers and can make a

sound choice............

New to group

Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce myself and I have a few

questions. I am 27 and I have a 8yr old son. When I was pregnant I

was told that I had RH neg blood and had to have shots in order to

keep from a mis caraige. I have done alot of research and now know

that vaccinations do more harm then good. I also breed dogs in which

case for years I stuck to a strict vaccine schedual only to lose over

half my litters each time. I have even lost some older dogs to the

diseases that they were vaxed for. I now beleive that my sons behavior

is due to the vaccines that he recieved as a child along with the one

they gave me while I was pregnant. Is there an alternative to the shot

that they give you for RH neg blood types? I don't intend to have any

more children but I would like to know my options if I did.

Thanks

Keisha

The explanation that I was given as to why I needed

the shot, was that if my blood type was RH neg and the

babies was a positive blood type my body would look at

it as a foreign body and try to expel it resulting in

a miscarriage. The shot was suppose to keep my body

from attacking the fetus. But by your experience it

doesn't happen that way so I will not have to worry

about it if I decide to have another kid. Thanks for

that info.

Anyone else?

Is this even what the Rhogam shot is for?

I thought it was for the " next " baby, not the current baby.........so

confusing......

I'm glad I said NO, but you have to do your research and make sure it's not for

you as well. But yes, my case is a good example that it's not always needed. In

fact, ANYONE, is it ever needed?

Any other opinions?
