Guest guest
What builds collagen? Vitamin C. In her case...massive doses! Probably could benefit from injections of it. Gloria
Guest guest
I’ll just tell her to get EsterC 1000mg capsules and start taking one every hour to bowel tolerance. She can at least start doing that before looking into injections. That was my second thought. She'll need mega-doses of it. It might be more economical for her to get a jar of powdered ester-C...3 grams in a tsp. The downside is that it tastes terrible. The injections would, of course, be optimal. I would highly suggest she try the C and pull no stops with dosage. She can't overdose on it and it can only help. If you're familiar with Laurel Burch, the artist (her signature colorful cat drawings on her products are very familiar)...she has the same thing. Now in her sixties, I've heard she can now barely move and is severely disabled with brittle bone syndrome. Gloria
Guest guest
It's not a calcium deficiency problem, . It's a lack of collagen or breakdown of collagen that causes it. What builds collagen? Also, in researching fluoridation in county water (our county is trying to fluoridate our water and I'm trying to talk them out of it), I discovered that fluoride breaks down collagen in the body. So I could at least tell her not to drink fluoridated water. Guest guest
I think Gloria’s probably right on the injections. In any case, it would take many more peels than I can get my hands on to create enough capsules for her. I think I’ll just tell her to get EsterC 1000mg capsules and start taking one every hour to bowel tolerance. She can at least start doing that before looking into injections. Guest guest
What about EmergenC? My young adult children like it. 1000 mg per packet and for them it takes the place of sodas. I've been known to down a couple in a day when I want something sweet. Shari

Guest guest
Isn't it Vit C AND calcium? I'm sure calcium wouldn't hurt. Calcium needs and acid to properly be absorbed, so I usually take them together. Gloria
Guest guest
Sure... alot of desserts use grated lemon and orange peels CHERYL D JONES <cctux@...> wrote: Hi Suzanne, Just curious about the lemon and grapefruit peel. I juice them all the time and wondered how to make more use of the dry pulp from the peelings. Currently I just use it for a face mask. Can you recommend something besides capsules? Do you think throwing a handful in a smoothie or even a glass of water is as effective? Thanks for your thoughts. Peace on earth. Cheryl Suzi What is a weed? Guest guest
Yes it is but she also needs sufficient magnesium. Calcium and magnesium work together. Calcium uptake is very minimal without magnesium from what I recall. I have, or should I say had, one side of my family suffered from this affliction. It was genetic in them. The two girls of the family had it and at least one of three sons. Quite debilitating and very little that can be done for it. If born with it then the damage is already a done deal. Not impossible to live a good life though if one is willing to take the necessary steps to maintain an appropriate raw living foods diet, plenty of sunlight, fresh air, exercise as capable and an ideal lifestyle (no partying, smoking, drinking, carousing). Lots of fresh tender leafy greens, green smoothies, blended salads, etc. will go a long way to offering the body the necessary nutrients utilized in maintaining and helping to rebuild. Just my thoughts on it. Don Who has plenty more thoughts to offer. =-O Gayla wrote: "What builds collagen? Vitamin C. In her case...massive doses! Probably could benefit from injections of it." Guest guest
Calcium uptake is very minimal without magnesium from what I recall. This is true. Calcium can form deposits in the bones and joints if there is not sufficient magesium. Then we have a whole other problem to contend with. There's a perfect ratio...half the amount of magnesium to calcium. So, if it's 500 mg. of calcium, there should be 250 mg. of magesium. Guest guest
No question is stupid. And the answer is YES she should be taking a supplement with vitamins and minerals. She was born with a faulty system of controls (gene defect) and needs to eat a good diet and try to support her bones as much as possible externally because internally she can’t. People with this disorder have very traumatic childhoods. Many times the parents are looked at for child abuse early on because the kids breaks bones constantly, which makes things emotionally unstable until diagnosis as well. I think the best thing for this young lady is a lot of positive support.
