Guest guest
Lavender A tea steeped from the flowers is tonic, will prevent fainting and allay nausea. It is excellent when combined with other herbs to disguise their taste. It is actually most effective when used in combination with other herbs. For example, Rosemary Gladstar recommends for headaches to combine lavender with lemon balm and skullcap. For muscle spasms and cramps she says it is good when combined with valerian root. And lavender with borage flowers is recommended for depression. The flowers are also are wonderful to use in shampoos and creams. Or to put in sachet pillows to scent your drawers. They are sometimes used to keep moths out of your clothing and furs. Lavender is loaded with sedative compounds that can penetrate the skin. Toss a handful into your bath water if you want a nice smelling way to relax. The hot water opens the pores and the essential oils easily penetrate the skin to relax the mind and body. This is a great bath for the aging bedridden parent or grandparent and for the pregnant mother of children. It can be invigorating, refreshing, and revitalizing. It is a good herb to use for nerve stress and tension. The leaves are also sometime used as a culinary herb. There are no reported side effects or toxic reactions from the used of this herb.
