Guest guest
Dear Jenni: I am very interested to hear about your experience. I am very scared. I talked with my primary doctor and she says that she would be scared for me because she says that once I leave Mexico and return to the US side who will give me constant care. She says that someone has to follow my healing process and the US doctors will have no record as to what the Mexico doctor did to me. I told her I was tired of my health deteriorating and wanted to do this because I need this weight off. She told me to do more research before going to Mexico. She said I should be scared to go to Mexico. It is sad what people say about Mexico. thank you for your email. Susie Scared of Mexico... Susie, I don't post too often on the message board but I do read the various postings every day. I wanted to respond to your posting about being scared of going to Mexico for surgery. Well, let me tell you...you will never receive better care from a doctor and his staff OR be in a cleaner hospital ANYWHERE in the United States. I promise you, it will absolutely blow your mind! I have never seen anything like it in my life and I have had 14 other surgeries and have been in at least 6 different hospitals in various cities around the South. NOTHING compares to the care I got at Almater...NOTHING! In fact, I'm sure I could find someone closer to do my fills because I live in Mobile, Alabama and Mexicali is extremely far away. BUT, I will pay whatever it costs me to fly out there because I KNOW I will get better care there than anywhere else I could possibly go. You could not go wrong by chosing Dr. Aceves and Almater Hospital. Don't worry what other people are saying...they are probably not speaking from first hand knowledge anyway. Have they ever been in a hospital in Mexico? I doubt it.... Take care and email me if I can share anything else. I'll be glad to share about my surgery experience if you are interested. Guest guest
To everyone that has questions about going to Mexico- The hospital in Mexicali is 120 times cleaner than any hospital in the US. I've been employed by several and have been a patient in others. The cleaning staff works 24 hours a day and cleans the same area every hour or two. I couldn't believe how often they cleaned. I mean thorough cleaning- doorknobs, rails, sinks, everything..... The staff is awesome. Yolanda, the patient coordinator, will do anything for you or your family. She actually took my family shopping and drove them back and forth from the motel. That lady works from sun up to sun down without stopping. She seems to be everywhere all at once. , Dr. Acebes nurse, is the greatest. He's there for the tests, the surgery, to check afterwards and at discharge. He also works the long hours and anticipates anything you might need. The other nursing staff try hard to understand and will do anything to help. You never even have to push the call button. You'll probably forget that you are in another country. You would never be able to get any better care anywhere. If you or your family have any questions, feel free to email me at regina.rios@.... Good luck to all those planning to take the trip. Regina > > > Dear Jenni: > > > > I am very interested to hear about your experience. > > I am very scared. Guest guest
Hi Susie, I'm going to butt in if you don't mind (well, i guess even if you do...) The #1 reason some US Dr's say nasty things about going to Mexico for surgery is because of how affordable it is to US patients who otherwise get overlooked by American insurance companies. They'll find that one patient who went south of the border for a simple procedure and something goes wrong and that's the patient they'll focus on FOREVER. You'll never hear about the hundreds of us who had fabulous expereinces in well maintained, spotlessly clean hospitals. As for " aftercare " - what aftercare? You pull out your own stitches (piece of cake!) and keep the incisions clean and dry. When you need a fill, you locate a local doctor willing to help or you travel back to visit with Dr. Aceves (for those of us lucky enough to live not too far away.) Don't let the negative feedback from the American press or any US doctor sway your decision. If you found Dr. Aceves and Almater Hospital - you are right on track for a healthy, slimmer future. Guest guest
Nydia, I had the lapband procedure on 2/17/06. I started out at over 330# but lost 20 pounds before the surgery. As of yesterday, I'm at 291. I've lost over 40 pounds. I love in Oklahoma so it was a very long trip. I actually had planned to have the surgery across the border from Sourthern Texas but changed my mind after find Dr. Aceves and his staff. My mother was skeptical (I had pages of research to help me convince her) but was taking pictures of the staff and hugging them before we left. It was her first time in Mexico and she loved it. She was amazed by the cleanliness and the care I received. She has since told more people about how great it was. I cannot say enough good things about the hospital, Dr. A or his staff. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck and congratulations on your choice for a new life. Best wishes, Regina > > > > > Dear Jenni: > > > > > > I am very interested to hear about your experience. > > > I am very scared.
