For those that aren't familiar I cannot have the following -

sugar, fruit (or anything sweet), yeast or yeast products,

wheat/gluten, (some say whole wheat is okay), no starchy veggies

(potatoes, corn, peas, nothing fermented so no soy soy sauce, vinegar,

tamari (unless wheat free).

I had severe Candida for much of my life and I don't agree with the standard anti-Candida diet. It's boring and, in my opinion, isn't necessary to rid the body of Candida. I found that drinking some water with grapefruitseed extract a few times a day and taking probiotics does a great job of ridding the body of yeast. Also liquid bentonite clay is fantastic in cleaning bacteria and fungus out of the body. I started getting rid of the Candida by cutting out ALL processed sugar, but I still eat fruit. I have had NO Candida reaction from eating fruit. Eliminating breads is a good idea too. But, really....I had it BAD for many years, and getting rid of the sugar and taking those yeast killers really made a major difference.

It's so nice to hear from you !... What the heck kind of diet are you on???? no fruit at all??? apples, bananas??? What are you trying to accomplish? Were you overloaded with candida? What was your diet like before you started and what had you tried before this?? Do a search for veggie smoothies... I recently had a run of recurrent yeast infections.  I found a cookbook of candida-free recipes in a 2nd hand book store and the recipes were a big yawn.  I eliminated sugar and took olive leaf extract, ashwaganda root, and astragalus root -- 2 capsules a day (I can check the mg if you're interested).  Within 6 weeks, yeast infection was gone.  Two months now and it hasn't returned.  I had read about the herbs in one of those free mags you can pick up at your local HFS.  They worked for me, however it sounds like you are dealing with something more pervasive and intense than I was, so I'm not sure if this will help you, but I thought I'd offer it.  I also incorporated kefir in all of my baking, and of course drank a glass a day, to add good bacteria to the gut.  My next step was grapefruit seed extract, taken as Gloria mentions below.Best of luck, roseOn Jan 16, 2007, at 9:58 PM, MorningGlory113@... wrote:For those that aren't familiar I cannot have the following - sugar, fruit (or anything sweet), yeast or yeast products, wheat/gluten, (some say whole wheat is okay), no starchy veggies (potatoes, corn, peas, nothing fermented so no soy soy sauce, vinegar, tamari (unless wheat free).I had severe Candida for much of my life and I don't agree with the standard anti-Candida diet. Hi Anne,

You will find lots of wisdom and excellent advice in Gloria's response.

Eating raw fruits is seldom ever a problem with someone suffering from

candida overgrowth. Drinking fruit juices is another story however.

Cutting out all wheat, legumes, starchy foods, processed foods,

processed sugars and eating much more raw tender leafy greens,

biological fruits (all fruits including cucumbers, squashes, etc.) will

do more for you then said " Candida Diet " .

Grapefruitseed Extract, although I don't recommend it for my own

reasons, many have had excellent benefits from using it as did Gloria.

Get all the processed foods out of your diet and I mean all. You

will be much heathier and feel lots better.

Oh, and lest I forget the major contributor to Candida overgrowth is

" STRESS " . If you are stressing over a diet then you need to dump the

diet as it isn't going to help.

thank you all for advice!

I am taking a probiotic as well as oil of oregano and an organic

herbal anti-candida formula. I'm lucky to have fresh yogurt from a

local farm as well. I have added some sweeter veggies (carrots,

yams, parsnips) to my diet every other day now that I am out of a

crisis period. (I added them with guidance from my acupuncturist/tcm)

I have not been eating any processed foods what so ever, and have

been only eating spelt products (yeast free). All of the above have

really helped as my bit of crisis seemed to move quite quickly.

I am not quite as severe as some, but just want to get a start on

clearing it out of my body, then continue my good health without

processed/refined sugars, and only sugars from fruit and natural

sources. I am lucky as our local healthfood stores are great, and

provide a wide array of wheat-free, naturally sweetened products from

their bakery, baked daily.

Thanks for your advice all, as always very helpful. I look forward

to joining the conversations again :) (and i'm working on getting

into veggie juices :) )
