Guest guest
Hi all, Well, my yellow lab, Markie, died this morning. She became very sick two days ago and so yesterday I took her to the third vet I have tried over the last several months. He did a blood test and said that her kidneys weren't working well, and tried to blame age. I told him that it was something more, and so he checked further. He noticed that she had an accumulation of fluid in her abdomen, and said that she might have a tumor on her spleen. I left her there overnight so they could use an IV to build her up and prepare her for surgery to do a spleenectomy. But this morning, when they got into the abdomen, they discovered that the cancer had spread to her other organs, including the liver, and if she recovered from the surgery, she would have about six months. But I had told them that I didn't want her to suffer, and so when she started slipping away during surgery, they let her go. I would like to find some way to prevent this kind of thing from happening to my black lab, Shantelle. So I will probably start her on a raw food diet in the near future. Guest guest
Raw food and no vaccinations, TerriLynne! I can't stress this enough. We are killing our pets with " kindness. " There is no way on God's green earth that injecting poison into a system can contribute to good health. Big hugs to you... Guest guest
Our dog Molly, the raw meat eater, is ready for pampering from the neighbors. I have her meat already stored in the bags in freezer for the neighbors to feed her daily, then she will be walked, then the other neighbor is in charge of giving her a place to sleep at their house while we head to Dallas, TX area for a week. I'm only a phone call or email away from my mail however. Can't leave home without the connection. carolg > > Raw food and no vaccinations, TerriLynne! I can't stress this enough. Guest guest
Hey, Everybody, And thanks for your thoughts. I feel kind of bad talking about my loss when Suzi is facing her surgery tomorrow. But I just wanted to say one more thing. I know that she is in a better place, and that she will be waiting for me, and I thank you all for your kind replies. I think that the hard thing for me, if I didn't say this before, was that I just wanted to hug her once more before she went, but she didn't hang on long enough for it. I had been kind of expecting that she would be going because she has been up and down sick since last August, but when the vet said come right over, I thought she would still be there. So it was hard for me that she had already left. Thanks all, and, if you see this tonight Suzi, I know you will be fine. You have taken such good care of yourself, I think you'll come through with flying colors. TerriLynne

Guest guest
Hi , That's a good idea. I may just make a page for her. She was such a joyous girl with a truly funny sense of humor. I have never met a dog with a sense of humor like hers. She would do something funny, and then she would laugh about it. It wasn't mischief, it was playful. All of my adult, out-of-the-house kids are in mourning, too. She was really special to all of us. TerriLynne
Guest guest
Hi TerriLynne, There is no reason to feel bad about talking about your loss. We all go through strife in life and we come out the other side stronger and hopefully packing a little more wisdom. I am truly sorry about your loss. We, pretty much most of us, do understand having gone through the loss of loved pets and family members too. We are all family and we take everything in stride, at least as much as we possibly can. Now we will take some time out to meditate and pray while our dear Suzi goes under the knife. Ask that this surgeon is provided by divine guidance to do the best he has ever done and then some. I know she will come through just fine. I also know you will too TerriLynne. We are all here for one another and we all need one another at times for support, slaps on the back, etc. Don TerriLynne wrote: > Hey, Everybody, > And thanks for your thoughts. Guest guest
TerriLynne - My thoughts are with you as your buddy goes over the Rainbow Bridge to wait for you to join, in the very distant future. Love, Shari
Guest guest
I’m so sorry for your loss Terri Lynne. If I remember correctly, retrievers are prone to getting cancers. Diet and exercise are great preventive measures, just like in humans. Guest guest
You know St. Francis had a special gift with animals, and I do think it is a gift. My son seems to have it and my dad certainly did. My grandma could stand in the missions, hold her arms out, and dozens of white doves would land on her. Amazing thing to watch really. My wife has a hard time understanding, but accepts as fact, my special rapport with animals. We seem to understand each other, and respect each other. The animals and I. Not always my wife and I.
