Guest guest
Oh, I agree 100%! But by the same token, I always try to correct factual errors whenever possible, especially in terms of LP's and/or people with disabilities. So, any information regarding this issue would be appreciated! Guest guest
Whoa! I guess I should have made myself more clear. Firstly, *I* am an LP. I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta type III/IV. Second, I am asking for **general** information. I do not want, nor do I expect, any male in this group to whip out a tape measure. Third, the comment I quoted from the message that was posted in another group I am a member of (neither of which the group OR the topic being discussed had anything to do with LP's), which prompted my post HERE, was made by an AP *male*. I would be perfectly happy if someone could provide me with a link to a **medical** site which has this information. I have done quite a bit of searching on my own, and thus far, have only found this topic mentioned in terms of *comments,* not from websites which I would consider sources of reliable information. Comments such as the one I quoted from the other group are often based on erroneous information/stereotypes. While the person who made the comment did go on to say (paraphrasing here) there are other ways to satisfy a woman regardless of size, IF the person who made the comment was incorrect in his assumption that small man ALWAYS = small " boy parts, " I would like to correct it. It would be no different if someone said " Of course, dwarf women have small busts! " Many women (if not most) are JUST as sensitive about that issue as men are regarding the question I asked. I am small-busted. Of course, that has NOTHING to do with the fact that I'm an LP...ALL the women in my family are small-busted. Since busts aren't easily concealed, I would not need to ask anyone in the LP community if dwarf women *generally* have small busts - I know that isn't true just based on casual observation - the range of bust size among LP women seems to be the same as the range of bust size amongst AP women. Therefore, if an AP said " Dwarf women have small busts, " I would correct them immediately. Lastly, I have no need/desire at this time to do any " private research. " I'm involved. Furthermore, even if I weren't, I would never consider *using* another human being - LP *or* AP - for that (or any other) purpose. Guest guest
Hello all, Here is my " delicate " as possible answer: Each type of dwarfism is caused by a specific type of gene that effects different parts of the body. It seems from my visual observations at many conferences, as well as my own person, that not everything on a person's body is effected by dwarfism, whether it be a person's personal parts to something like teeth for example. I have a dwarfism, I'm only 3'3 but my teeth are the same size as an average height person (my dentist told me I have a big mouth! ) As far as my internal organs like stomach, heart, kidneys, etc, I've personally never been told they are smaller than an average height person when I've visted my doctor. Clothing wise, even though I'm a dwarf, I can in no way wear kids clothes as my body is not built like a child's. I wear women's tops and shirts and women's pants and shorts, and I would even if I were at my prime weight. This is not true though for some other types of dwarfisms based on the build of a body having to do with their specific type of dwarfism. Unfortunately people like to make assumptions or joke about such things solely out of ignorance, because, as I've always said, dwarfism seems to be the last disability it's okay to make fun of. The only blanket statement I can make about dwarfism is, aside from the fact were short, you can't make a blanket statement about dwarfism. -
