In Oregon, the law states you can park in a metered spot for free.

The logic is that parking meters themselves are inaccessible for a lot

of people. I know I couldn't plug coins into one.

But I'm sure it is different state to state.

You know what the real problem is? Doctors handing out disabled

parking permits willy nilly. I met a varsity college basketball

player who got a doctor to give him a disabled placard after he

sprained his ankle. And it was the permanent kind, not the temporary

kind.

Well, technically, the docs don't hand out the permits, just approve

the application. But you get my drift.
