Cholesteatoma Surgery Questions

Hey Everyone!

I am new to the group. Not sure if my last message got through, so I thought I'd try it again.

I got diagnosed with a Cholesteotoma. Spare you the details, but I had all the signs. I had been to one regular ear doc. He said I had thinning of the mastoid...at least that was I think he was talking about. I got a CT Scan and he sent me to the Surgeon. Surgeon looked in my ear and not 30 seconds later said I had quite a deep pocket and that I had a Cholesteotoma.

Well, being a typical guy....I hate pain. I am just curious how painfull is this surgery going to be and How long can I expect to be out of work?
