Guest guest
Hello Amy: Surprisingly I only received one reply and basically she too is fending for herself also which I find troubling to hear. This is the part of LPA that keeps me scratching my head...Why are we not sharing idea's, making suggestion, pasting along information and REALLY help our fellow SED or any LP members for that matter. Why are we not helping and supporting one another more? This is why we have list serve in hopes we can make a difference in someone life somewhere across the BIG USA! Also why are we getting less & less involved in our Chapters & Districts they are desperately struggling to keep them afloat!? Perhaps I will answer my own question when I say that I realize time has changed since I was a teenager. I had to rely on our local newspaper to hear something about a upcoming meeting close to my area. Today's world we are able to get information of a drop a dime. We have Facebook, Twitter, Instant Msg, Skype...and the list goes on & on. It seems that LP' doesn't rely on Chapters and District meeting anymore? Which intern our Chapters, District Regional's like we use to know it are dwindling until there is absolutely no volunteers interested in Making A Difference for another LP & there family. I pray it doesn't come to this. Sadly it becoming to look that way. And please people don't say you don't have time.... that's a cope out in my eyes. When numerous people spend hours at a time on the laptop addicted to Facebook etc.....Surely you could unplug yourself from time to time and help kick start your local Chapters once again. But then again perhaps the need it's not there like it use to be and that era is simply disappearing all together.....What is your take on it Grady? Maybe we are getting to a point where there will be no Chapters, or Regional's anymore and we just solely have a LPA conference once a year and that will be enough for our members. time will tell. All I know is when I was a teenager and in my 20's LPA really helped me out on all levels. Socially, Medically, Independently, Education wise etc. I promised myself that when I was in my 30's & 40's that I would give back my time to LPA Where ever I could. Since LPA gave so much to me as a young adult. Preparing for a more independent and fulfilling life living with dwarfism. I have been w/ the organization for over 20 years and kept my promise and have put in numerous hours over the years volunteering and giving back to help our next generation of young adults enjoyed the organization at it's fullest. In hopes that when they become parents, or career men or women that they to will Thank LPA and our local Chapters & DIstrict & Regional's by simply giving back by volunteering there time. LPA Organization is counting on ALL of US! Think about & Then Make A DIfference.... Cheers! Michele CH13 VP/Secretary
