My son had five surgeries for cholesteatoma. The last one was about seven years ago. We considered the BAHA but have been waiting. I have sent the information out twice to this group but got no response on what they thought about SoundBite. I first heard about it two years ago when an article was published about the top ten best medical breakthroughs. SoundBite was ranked #1 by Cleveland Clinic.

I tried to get my son, who is now 25, in the clinical trials but was not successful. The FDA just approved it a few months ago and it is only available in certain cities. You may already know all this. If as advertised it certainly would be a wonderful alternative to BAHA. The information sounds great especially for people with the single side deafness due to cholesteatoma. I keep in touch with the company through email and they sent the announcement to me last month. I just copied and pasted below.

I plan on calling one of the places that offer it to see how much it costs. Do you happen to know?

SoundBite - anyone with experience?

So it is now 5 months since my reconstruction surgery and my hearing still has not improved. I am a bit disappointed off course, and I am not very keen on having more surgeries. But the unilateral hearing is causing difficulties and I would like to have better hearing. The next option they will offer me is BAHA, but I am not to happy with this solution. Then I came across this SoundBite that requires no surgery. It sounds almost too good to be true! Have anyone else looked into this? Experience?
