Guest guest
Debbie, Please don't give up! Call CT one more time and really air your frustrations. Ask that they explain what the problem is and then insist that they offer you a long-term solution. Could it be possible that the helmet just doesn't fit her head correctly? I would ask them that as well!! Remember, you are paying for the band one way or another and it should be exactly right - if it's not then you have the right to insist that they fix it for you. Could you also try calling your specialist and seeing if he/she would take a look at the fit and see if it looks correct to them. I haven't really heard of anyone here ever having that problem with the DOCband so I would really question the proper fit of the band. (You did say that it was a DOCband - right??) Please don't give up - insist that CT fix the problem or make it right. Let us know what you find out and keep after them! Guest guest
Debbie, we don't have exactly the same situation but maybe this will help. Our son doesn't have high spots or any irritation from his STARband, but he will NOT sleep in it at night or even for most naps. So we have him wear it during the day and he sleeps without it (on his tummy) at night. It's not the greatest solution, but we are seeing some improvement. Maybe you can just try having wear the helmet during the day and some at night and see if you get improvement. It may take longer, but I think you will see some. If not, then I guess you will have to decide whether it's worth it. I know we have struggled with the same issue with Graham because he was so miserable with the helmet on during the night. We figured we'd give wearing it during the day a try and if that doesn't work then we may just abandon the helmet therapy. Anyway, don't know if that helps you any but at least know you aren't alone in your struggle. Amy in Kansas City. -----Original Message----- From: kigerzoo@... Her head has " severe " high points to it, opposite her flat spots of course. Well, after 3 weeks of having the helmet she's only worn it 11 days because her high point keeps getting red and swollen by the helmet. We've gone into CT for at least 5 pressure reliefs but that spot still gets irritated. Our current plan is to have her wear it during the day (seems ok) but at night when it really seems to put pressure on it, I have to set an alarm and take it off of her 1/2 way through. That's ok, but is it the right answer? We are reaching the point that her high point won't allow us to use the helmet to help the low points.... I'm feeling beaten down by an inanimate object on my daughter's head!! How many trips to CT/pressure reliefs until we give up and say that her head has to stay in its severe plagio way because we can't win the battle with the high point?? I'm getting ready to give up - HELP! Debbie For more plagio info
