Guest guest
Tara, Yes, I've had all the tests done more than once thus the Synovitis diagnosis instead of RA or Lupus. However, rheumy put me on an NSAID and a DMARD so she's taking it seriously. My goal is to change things with diet and supplements. I don't want to continue with the meds but if I've missed a dose, my body reminds me. I've had a couple of flares this summer but since the DMARD, I'm doing much better. However, we all know about drugs and the harm they can do so I desire to be off them and conquer this the natural way Too bad the meds haven't helped my back pain... you would think the NSAID would help some but I don't feel it has. I see my rheumy in a couple of weeks so I'm sure the round of tests will be done again to see if anything has changed. So far all tests are fine. Thanks for the info and for caring! I'll keep you posted if symptoms changed or if I get a new diagnosis. Serena -- Re: Re: Hi everyone Serena, Have you had blood tests for ANA or rhematoid factor? With the symptoms you said, I agree that you may have some sort of rheumatoid disease process going on (also because you are a woman in your 30s). There are many tests that could diagnose exactly what you have (or don't have) - just having one be positive isn't necessarily diagnostic - I myself had a positive ANA once along with my Raynaud's disease (which can be associated with rheumatoid disease if you didn't already know) - but then I had a negative ANA and no further symptoms. I would suggest that you go for the blood tests and do some research along with talking to your rheumatologist. I hope you get this figured out soon - best of luck to you - Tara I had surgery when I was 16 and by my early 20s I had significant back pain which was supposedly from arthritis around the surgical area. Now I'm 34 and have been diagnosed with Synovitis in many joints and my rheumy believes it could be early stages of an auto-immune disease like RA or Lupus. I'm thinking the scoliosis could be a cause but I guess nobody else thinks that way.... I just know when you stand a certain way for 15+ years to compensate for a curve and one leg takes the load of two then you are bound to cause some significant damage. But that doesn't explain the elbow, wrist and fingers hurting (even though they aren't near as painful as the knees and feet).... it may be a whole new condition.... we will see in time. I'm just trying to make better choices in my diet and hoping to hold off any attack that's started. Anyone else dealing with RA or Lupus symptoms? Guest guest
Hi Serena... If the screws are a part of an anterior system, they go through the body of the vertebrae. (Pedicle screws go through the pedicle.) Guest guest
Hi Jake, Welcome!! I have not heard of this disorder, so I just did a bit of research. I will start by helping you to understand immunics a bit more. I am not sure how much you have read, but the most important thing to understand is that you can take control over your immune system, and that is what we are doing. Your immune system doesn¹t only effect your physical health, but also your mental, emotional etc. When we do immunics we RIK things. Remove..Install...Know. Have you watched the video tutorial on the website. If not, it is at http://www.immunics.org. Scroll down and there is a link to the video. If your computer can not watch video¹s, there is an audio version. Follow this up with the rest of the nine day intensive. This will help you better understand what you are doing when you practice immunics. This will also teach you how to connect and get a signal. As for the disorder, start by releasing it. It isn¹t your disorder. It is a disorder you have been experiencing. The time has come to start removing it. I would start by removing pathologies...especially Trauma. I am testing yes that part of your disorder was caused by trauma. You can also remove the side affects of this disorder. In my experience mental diseases are a bit harder than viral to remove, BUT it can be done. I have done it myself. It takes a lot of accessing. You can not give up. Immunics is something you have do do consistently throughout your day. We are all here as a group to help and support each other. Please never hesitate to ask questions. Guest guest
good job!! I bet you feel so much better. Isn't it funny to think that if you were to try to pick up something that weighed 100 pounds that most likely you wouldn't be able to. And if you did you would probably hurt yourself.. No wonder we are in so much pain when we are over 100 pounds overweight. I can't wait to loose my first 100.. then I will have another 100 to go errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg... keep us posted on the good work your doing.. We're all proud of you!! Guest guest
Hi Debbie I live in SE Washington. I chose NWWLS first because I wasn't able to find anybody else nearby...bit dense on internet stuff even tho on computer all day. Boy am I glad to have found the team at NWWLS. They are absolutely terrific. I had consult 10/7/05...surgery 10/13/2005...fill 11/21/2005. I feel so much better since surgery. I lost 21 lbs preop plus 19+ lbs post op and am doing exercises I never thought I could ever do. I am down 2+ sizes in clothes, fit in regular chairs, and just got into two sets of silky pajamas that I had put away before my daughter was born 17 years ago. My daughter actually told me one set is to baggy and to old fashioned and to go buy new ones. Ha Ha! It seems that many people on this site have had wonderful luck with Mexico docs..I have no first hand knowledge there. I like having my support team closer by. Hope to hear from you again. Guest guest
I had my surgery at NWWLS and live in the Seattle area. I have heard great things about some of the mexican doctors as well. Dr. Kuri in T J has a great reputation as well as Dr Rumbaut in Monterry to name a few. You need to factor in after care as well as cost which is why I chose NWWLS. You need to make sure that you can get the care you need after you get the band as well. Guest guest
Hello, I had my surgery on February 17th 2005 in Mexico with dr. . I have lost 100 pounds as of november 25th. I feel wonderful. I still have 60 pounds to go but the difference in the way that I feel is amazing. I live in Dallas oregon and as a self-payer I decided to make it a vacation. I went shopping on the 3rd and 4th day in mexico. I got some great stuff for my kids. I hope that this will be a positive thing for you like it has been for me. Hi Everyone Hello fellow NW'ener's I live in Oregon and am checking out NWWLS to see how much they charge for this surgery since I am a self-payer. I have checked all kinds of places even Mexico. I would love to hear from you all and let me know how your doing with your lapband. And to make new friends. Good luck to each and every one of you with your new life to fat-no- more freedom. I can't wait to start that journey myself. Debbie
Guest guest
Hi Tracie, I am not a mum to a deaf child (she is hearing) but I am deaf myself and I remember what it was like growing up in a mainstream school environment. I can remember a girl pulling out my hearing aids and understand how upset your daughter felt! I think the best thing you can do in the years ahead (she is still young!) though is to help her deal with the issue of being different. You can do this by doing role play, giving her advice, allowing her to talk about her days at kindergarten/school and perhaps maybe even seeing a professional counselor when she is older. Many schools have counselors and it would be worth asking about them. The counselor may have some ideas about how to re-educate her class at school? I think you are doing great by matching her implant to her clothes! I don't think going to any great length to make the cochlear implant less obvious is the way to go (even if she wants you to do this) because it will give her the message that it is something to be ashamed and embarrassed about. It will give her more to worry about. I remember getting a new hearing aid once and I sweated for several days wondering how to hide it from the other children at school. I was so scared the other children would see it and make it an issue. But in the end they just didn't care. All that worry for nothing! Another possible thing you can do is meet up with other families who have children with implants. I am sure they must have gatherings and camps. That will help your daughter feel that she isn't the only one! When she is older it may give her an opportunity to talk to those children about their own experiences at school. Children basically want to feel " normal " and that there are other people like them. It would also help you as you talk to other parents who understand your worries and know how you feel! Looking back I wish that I had been able to talk to my own mother more about difficult situations at school. I think I would have found doing role play really helpful as it would have taught me the skills to know what to do when other children were making it an issue. You sound a great mum. Please don't be too discouraged by your daughter's slow language development at this stage. I was 2.5 years old when I first got my hearing aid and didn't learn to speak until the age of 3. I did feel behind my peers languagewise in the early years of school but it was my love of reading books that saw me through and my mother was really good with that by having us visit the library frequently. People tell me that I speak very well now. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of rileycalcutta Sent: Tuesday, 7 February 2006 8:02 AM Subject: Hi Everyone My daughter is in kindergarden and has had her implant since she was 16 months. Guest guest
Tracie, I think you should do whatever your daughter is comfortable with. Does she have one of the Advanced Bionic CIs? I am thinking she does because you mention matching it with her clothes. If your daughter really gets upset when others touch it, it might be better to make it less obvious so that it doesn't make it something other children want to explore. I grew up hiding my hearing aid, thinking that I could fool others into thinking I was hearing. I didn't realize until I was much later that once I spoke, it was obvious I was different so hiding my hearing aid didn't make a difference. I would rather have been confident enough to have folks see it and to know that I wasn't being rude if I didn't respond to them but rather couldn't hear them. As an adult though, I actually had a red hearing aid in my 20's and would put holiday stickers on it. I was teaching at the time and the kids loved it. I would put stickers on their hearing aids as well. I loved that red hearing aid. I love the new different colored ear molds that are made now and the different colored hearing aids. I almost got the one that is clear so you can see the insides of the hearing aid three years ago but I ended up deciding that another company made the hearing aid that worked for me the best and they didn't have anything but different skin colors to choose from. I was disappointed but knew I had to go with the one I heard with best. in SC, hopeful CI candidate Hi Everyone My daughter is in kindergarden and has had her implant since she was 16 months. Guest guest
, I know what ya mean. I had the worst day about two days ago. I have had depression for five years and it got worse and worse over time. I finally seeked help for it and I am now taking Lexapro. I have been on it for nearly six weeks. It has helped quite a bit but I think I may need to up my dose. I was horrible a few days ago. I think I cried for about two hours or so and I was very irritable. On top of all this I am pregnant. The good thing is I am great today and I was also great yesterday. Just remember that today will pass and hopefully tomorrow will be a much better one. It's the weekend so go do something for yourself today. Get your hair done or go shop for something that you need. Get yourself out of the house and go take a look at new spring wardrobes or something. Don't sit inside and dwell on it. If you live on the east coast is is sunny out so that should make ya happy ( I live in New Jersey ). If ya don't want to get out, call a friend or relative that you havn't spoken with in a while. That always works for me!! Just remember this is only one day of your life. Feel better I am thinkin about you. Stella:)
Guest guest
Wanted to ask you one thing. What medication are you taking and at what dose?? Do you think that you might need to increase it?? And for how long have you been on the med? It is possible that if you are on a high enough dose and you have been on it for a while, that it may have pooped out on you. I would talk to your doctor if you continue to feel this way for another week or so. He or she may want to increase your dose or try a new medication. I know there are some people who add wellbutrin to the lexapro when the lexapro gets to the point where it just doesn't work as well anymore. You may want to ask yourself if you have had more stress in your life lately too. Remember that the medication can't take away the stressors in life that just happent to us. Sorry. I know this is more than one question. Feel free to chat with me anytime you need to talk!! Stella

My condolences. > Everyone was crying because they all had memories and I was crying because I had very little to none. Sounds like how things were at my dad's wake last year. I remember growing up with him in his alcoholic years, being disowned by him soon after my mom died when he remarried and she wanted nothing to do with his family (they even tossed my younger brother out of the house in his last year of college); and the only time I really had contact with him were last last 15 or so years when he remarried again, this time to a *nice* woman, but it was mostly via long distance phone calls and the few months we lived 10 minutes away in FL. At the wake, all these people are coming in telling me what a nice guy he was, how he was always there to help anyone in need, that they always had a great time when they were out together. HUH? When did all this happen? When I was a kid, the family joke was, Was there really an Uncle ?, as he never attended any family gathering, and to this day I have some cousins on my mom's side who never saw him in their lives, and they're in their 40's. >It was so nice to see family members I have not seen in well over 20+ years. I also insisted that one of their elective classes be a home ec cooking class. My oldest son found that it was a great way to meet girls during his freshman year. They may or may not have a wife to do these things for them -- and I'm not going to do it for them forever.
