Barista or Bar Tenders?

I'm wondering if anyone on this list has worked as a coffee barista or

a bar tender?

All of my jobs except one has been a desk job, so the space to

modified is usually 'mine', and I can simply bring in a stool to rest

under my feet and all is well. However, I would love to work as a

barista... but I can't get my mind (or imagination) around all of the

modifications that would have to be made to be able to reach

everything behind the counter while sharing the space with other

employees. I am 4'4 " , so I think I could easily use a kick stool

(think back to your library days) but it seems like it'd be better if

a long, but shallow platform could be built.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience behind a bar? I'm

friends with a coffee shop owner, and would like to broach the idea to

him of me working a few shifts -- but I want to have a reasonable idea

of how this could happen easily before I talk with him.

Thanks! And Happy New Year!
