As we gathered at the dock, rythms of Latinmusic lifted spirits, and the bright sun highlighted already vibrant colors. Before long the boat, filled to capacity, pulled out from the dock. The water sparkled as we navigated through the busy harbor, and " thevery air was dancing. " We soon looked up to se Master steering the boat.He steered us through the active bay filled with watercraft of all shapesand sizes. At one point the propietor of the boat thought that the channelwas a bit narrow and busy and motioned to take the wheel, but Master assuredhim he was capable of steering. We all cheered this decision. Throughoutthe afternoon a short passage from the Gurbani that my husband Mark hadrecently put to music was ringing in my head. That evening the Master allowed everyone to gather for an evening ofsongs and poems. One of our newly initiated Latin brothers sang a song withso much heart that he almost brought down the house. I had made anddistributed some copies of the boat song. When it was my turn, I sang thefour lines of the song three times, asking people to join in as they caughtthe tune. When I had finished, Maharaj Ji spoke up to ask me to remainstanding but then said, " No, we will do something with this song after awhile. " When all of the sangat had shared their songs and poems, Maharaj Jicalled me to the microphone. He requested that I sing the song again -three times - and to pause each time I completed it:Guru, you are my boat;Carry me to the other side.I may forget you. Please don't forget me.After the first time through, Master Rajinder, with a clear voice fullof unimaginable sweetness and tenderness, sang in return:My dear, you are God's child; You are going to the other side.I will never forget you. Please stay by my side. Our Master's words stunned us all. I could barely see through the tearsand light in the room. Master motioned to me to sing it again. Theaudience joined in as we sang our plea twice more, and Master repeated hispromise two more times. That night all of us in the room knew that whether we were worthy ornot, our Master would never forsake us. He will take us home.- Flowering of GraceSK Publications, Copyright 2000, ISBN 0-918224-41-1EmpoweringYourSoulThroughMeditation
