Aeschylus: There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief. Audre Lorde: The sharing of joy, whether physical, emotional, psychic, or intellectual, forms a bridge between the sharers which can be the basis for understanding much of what is not shared between them, and lessens the threat of their difference. Keats: A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Kahlil Gibran: The deeper that sorrow carves into your being the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven? Kahlil Gibran: .... joy and sorrow are inseparable. . . together they come and when one sits alone with you . . . remember that the other is asleep upon your bed. Kahlil Gibran: We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them. It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning. This is harmony. We must discover the joy of each other, the joy of challenge, the joy of growth. Pearl S. Thich Nhat Hanh: Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy. Unknown: The great teachings unanimously emphasize that all the peace, wisdom, and joy in the universe are already within us; we don't have to gain, develop, or attain them. We're like a child standing in a beautiful park with his eyes shut tight. We don't need to imagine trees, flowers, deer, birds, and sky; we merely need to open our eyes and realize what is already here, who we really are -- as soon as we quit pretending we're small or unholy. Willa Cather: Oh, this is the joy of the rose: / That it blows, / And goes. ~~~ Today, as you go about your day, and engage upon your daily thoughts words and deeds, ask yourself first, “Does this bring me joy?” As you deliberately choose to come from a place of joy, you will then eliminate all that which does not bring you joy, such as negative emotions of hatred, anger, fear, guilt, shame, etc. When we are aligned with Source Energy, we are filled with love, peace, harmony and joy. ~~~ TAT on JOY You can also do the following TAT process to clear all that is getting in the way of your joy. Do all 7 steps of TAT (www.unstressforsuccess.com) on the following TAT process. Step 1: All that happened that resulted in my not living in a state of joy. Step 2: I happened, it’s over, I’m ok, and I’m no longer bothered by this problem, and I live in a state of joy. Step 3: God, thank you for healing the origins of this problem. (or “The origins of this problem are healing now.”) Step 4: God, thank you for healing all the places in my body, mind and life where this problem is stored. (or “All the places in my body, mind and life where this problem is stored are healing now.”) Step 5: God, thank you for healing all the parts of me that got something out of having this problem. (or “ All the parts of me that got something out of having this problem are healing now.”) Step 6: I forgive everybody I blamed for this problem including God and myself. Step 7: I ask forgiveness of everyone that I hurt because of this problem. Step 8: Any leftovers.
