you would consume 2,040 calories a day.

interesting theory. :) there are conditions where you can gain muscle and loose

fat

but this generally isnt one of them.

Lots of people like www.fitday.com but BFL isn't about counting calories :)

It's all about portion control.. so stick to the correct portions and you'll

be great!

Here are my fave links for stats on food items:

An alphbetical listing of over 1000 common food items:

http://www.ntwrks.com/~mikev/chart1a.htm

A USDA food database (search engine) at Nutri_Facts:

http://www.nutri-facts.com/index.asp

Fast food facts on over 24 restauransts (when you HAVE to eat out!)

http://www.kenkuhl.com/fastfood/

And how to read those food labels when you just cant find it on any

Since you're not very heavy, I'd go by 10-12 times your total body weight,

1330-1596.

caloric intake

Hey! Umm...I was checking out Hussman's sight (which is GREAT) and

figuring out the whole caloric intake thing. Could those of you

who've done it check this? I'm 133 lbs right now, 27% body fat.

So...that means my lean mass is 97 lbs, right? And according to Dr.

Hussman, to loose weight I should shoot for 10-12 calories per lb of

lean mass. So that's between 970 and 1160 calories per day? Isn't

that quite low? Oh--and whoever discovered fitday is a lifesaver!

I'm not wanting to make a lifetime habit of counting calories, but

for a few weeks I'd like to really keep the diet part in check to

make sure I understand what " staying on track " means! Anyway, are

those calculations right?

Hi

I don't know ther calorie formulas but something to keep in mind about your son.

If he is thin and doesn't care about eating he may be zinc deficient.

Hi O's ! I'm sure this topic has been talked about but I just can't seem to

locate, so my apologies,,, Having trouble maintaining my (what I think is

ideal) weight goal of 125. I'm only about 5 lbs over it and eating right

except perhaps too much trail mix and dark choc. chips through the day.

Anyway,

wondering if I should be considering caloric intake,, but can't remember the

formula -- or maybe I should just follow the Dadamo food portion sizes but

I've lent out all my books! Also I'd love to learn of a caloric intake goal

for children. My 7 yr. old son just picks at his food but is extremely active

in sports and I need a number to shoot for.... Don't think it's healthy that

he's not eating enough and burning off so much everyday. Any help would be

so appreciated! Love,

Hi,

I re-signed up on the dwarfism list looking for some specific information and

started reading some of the recent messages posted by people and realize it has

been many years since I've posted on here and talked with some of you. I guess

life gets in the way like that. While I'm very happy, there are still times I

miss IRC chat with members of the listserv! Needless to say, I'm still alive and

things are going very well.

Anyways, I am wondering, from personal experience if anyone has calculated a

ball park figure for caloric intake. I realize that everyone is different, but I

know there are achon men in LPA that are around my height and age (4'2 " , 34) and

don't appear to be overweight. I was thinking between 1200-1500 calories in

order to lose weight at a healthy rate, but I may be way off. I am using

caloriecount.com to track things, but I haven't been consistently tracking it

enough yet to get an idea of intake versus outtake. Any thoughts would be

appreciated.

For those that know me and are curious what I've been up to in the last few

years, email me and let's talk. I don't want to bore the other with my life's

details.
