Guest guest
Jill, Wow - I think your friend may need to seek a second opinion. I have never heard of babies at that age not responding at least to some degree to the band or helmet if the condition is plagio and not cranio. If the therapy has been aggressive (I think that is what you said) then your friend would probably really benefit from getting a different viewpoint from another specialist. What test was done to rule out cranio? If it wasn't a 3D CT then perhaps that would be in order. If it was a 3D CT then maybe they could consider an MRI. A second look in that area may be necessary as well. If the plagio is totally unresponsive then it seems only reasonable that it might be cranio. Or perhaps the bands were not made correctly. It wouldn't be the first time that someone in this group has had trouble with their band. The babies are still young and could still benefit from the band if the condition is truly plagio. I'm sure your friend doesn't want to hear this, but perhaps they need to start again from the casting step and move forward once again with a new band. I'm sure you told her that she should not feel guilty and she shouldn't. She has done all she can on her end - it is up to the professionals to do their part now. I'm sorry to hear the trouble she is having - my heart goes out to her. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
