Beth Anne,

First I must say that you showed great restraint in not slapping the daycare

worker. I can't believe she would say that - grrrr!

I think you should definately keep the helmet off if you have some concerns

with it fitting properly. Your ortho should be able to help you make the

final decision about whether or not you are done. You will probably feel

better about your decision either way you decide to go after discussing it

with the ortho. At nine 1/2 months further improvement will be much more slow

going and that is something to keep in mind as well.

I wish I could be more help, but you have hit a big crossroads and a tough

decision. I know you will make the right choice for Evan no matter which way

you go. Please know that this group will support in whatever you decide.

Hi Beth Ann,

Really the best judge on this is you guys, your there and you see what's going on. But just to share my experience, wore his band from 5 to 8 months, and although we saw great correction, his ear was still just a little off and he did have a small flat spot near the top of his head that only we could see. We didn't really have to make a choice, CT thought he was good to go too. But, we have noticed that his ear has continued to align correctly and it looks even better 2 months later. I think maybe now that his head had a chance to grow in the right way, it has continued to do so. Although, I know some Moms and Dads haven't noticed much change since graduation. Seems like 4 months is the average, but only you and your ortho can make that decision. Why didn't the ortho try to shave the front so he wouldn't get that red spot? had that too and I kind of made them correct it, so they shaved just a little to make me happy mostly, and it did the trick. Good luck on whatever you decide, sounds like whatever you choose your son had some great results regardless!
