Many thanks. I need to save a little $$$ before I order it but if you do get

it before me I would appreciate if you could post your thoughts on it... I

will do the same.

I forgot to mention that if you live in California (I'm in Idaho)

you are eligible to get a free ClearSounds neckoop. Someone on the

list mentioned that about a week ago. If you do an archives search

for " ClearSounds " that message should come up.

I will be sure to post my experience with the neckloop, but it'll be

a couple of weeks before it gets here. Right now I have a Med-El in

my right ear and was implanted with a Nucleus Freedom in my left ear

on October 26. Activation day is November 28. I'll be trying the

neckloop as a bilateral implantee who has never used a neckloop

before, so my first impressions may be very different from yours.

e, I realize this information was sent for ....but, I peeked. lol

Several questions regarding your post:

1. How do you go about looking/searching in Archives? I don't find an

" Archives " area to click.

2. Is this offer only for people in California?

3. Can you supply additional information - or, perhaps the " someone " who

posted the previous information you are speaking of could post it again???

(Please!)

Thanks. Evon

Hi Evon,

To answer your three questions:

1. and 3. To find the archives, click on " Reply via web post "

at the bottom of a message. This will open a window to the

Groups sign-in page. After logging on, click on " , " then on

" Messages. " You'll now see a search box where you can enter keywords

to pull up anything you want from the archives. You can also pull up a

specific message if you know the message number. The message with the

California information is number 49240 on November 1, 2006.

2. Here is a link to the TEDPA page that I found by going to my phone

company's Web site (Verizon) and clicking on the link for customers

with disabilities. I didn't look at all the state plans, being mainly

interested in what Idaho had to offer. Idaho doesn't offer free

neckloops, but it is temporarily offering CapTel phones for $99

(regular price is $495). I am taking advantage of that offer. You

didn't say what state you are from, but you can click on the

appropriate link on this page to find out what your state has in the

way of goodies.

http://www.tedpa.org/tedpainfo/stateprograms.html

Hope you find something useful for your state on the TEDPA list.

I went, this afternoon, to a California Telephone Access Program(CTAP) office

here in Burbank,California, to try the Clearsounds Neckloop. I have the

Nucleus N24 Contour G3 processor. Unfortunately, the neckloop does not work. Is

it

compatible with the Freedom upgrade? I am now waiting to be mapped, hopefully

soon.Moses Katz

Hi Moses,

I also live in California and have from CTAP the clear sounds neck

loop. It does work with the Freedom. I have been using it since mid

August when I was turned on. You are also entitled to a telephone

with the neck loop. One thing I noticed sometimes the person I am

talking to cannot hear me. I think it draines power from the phone.

Maybe you should try the cap-tel phone that CTAP also gives out.

Good luck with the Freedom.

Moses,

I dont have that neckloop but was looking at it online, thinking about

it. In what way didnt it work? RThe 3G and Freedom both have t coils but I

understand the Freedom one seems to work better.

I think that CS neck loop works best when you loop it over your ears so it is

right next to the processor. This is a hassle I think because we already have so

much on our ears, especially if we wear glasses too.

However I remember we talked about this same subject a few months ago and I was

trying out several brands of neck loops at the time. The " Listen " neckloop is

far better than the Clearsound neckloop and it costs half as much.

Pam (happy with my " Listen " )

Pam,

A neckloop over the ears?! Blimey! Actually I have tried it, doesnt

work too well. So tell us about the Listen loop.

Since light travels faster than sound, isn't that why some people appear

bright until you hear them speak?

Hi ;

I just tried the two of them. The Listen neckloop was clearer, louder and just

served me better than the ClearSounds. Maybe it was just me.. but I couldn't

believe the difference in sound and the difference in price.
